Evans at SF in Starting Lineup?!

Should Evans Play SF?

Burke is back, he can run and dribble. Before, it was Hayward and Lucas (and that was the problem). With Burke and Hayward, you don't need more ball handlers running. Either Burke or Hayward will have the ball on the fast break, so Evans can run free ahead.

I think Lucas was too small too run far fast. I think R.J. is too old to run far fast.

I was only pointing out that, last night in specific, the Jazz had a ton of running opportunities but couldn't get the ball down court due to poor dribbling taking focus off of court vision and onto not turning the ball over. There are already players down the court with no one to run create a 3 on 2 situation.

Burke being back makes Evans @ 3 much more viable. Brewer needed Williams to crash the 2-2-1 defense so he could sneak back side. The "Earlyoop" was often set up differently out of HORNS (4 & 5 at the key) and can't really be ran with Evans in at the 3.

What ? We are struggling spacing and you want another guy who can not shoot threes ?

Yes, maybe. Sneaking backside is a different weapon b/c defenders think they can sag off to help and still get back if the penetrating guard passes corner. It's easy to defend most 2's and 3's from coming in and scoring off that same pass since you have everyone in the paint already, but a good alley oop takes away that defensive capacity.

If they sag way in like Kobe on Brewer then Evans can hit that easy mid-range jumper. Or, set up 1-4 with Kanter down there, daring their three to stop Evans or putting him on Kanter.

No way in hell do I start Evans. He isn't that good. I'd rather have this starting lineup:

Garrett
Burke
Hayward
Kanter
Favors

And that lineup sucks.

Holy **** thats terrible. Why would Burke ever play the 2?

Why not:
Burke
Burks
Hayward
Kanter
Favors.

I wanna see em all on the court at the same time, with Burks in his natural position!

I like the idea of Burks being the spark for the second unit, but I agree that this lineup should get some playing time together in every single game. They don't have to start out all together, but at some point in the game they should be putting all these guys together and seeing what they're capable of as a unit.

Would love to see that but like I said before...... there is no way that jefferson doesn't start from here out.

Keep Evans because he is cheap, but if Marv wants to come back, and we need a wing/stretch 4, then maybe keep him too.
Will he still be cheap when his next contract is due? Especially if he has a mid range shot and can dribble now?

Which he can, apparantly.

As for the original question, I have always said he should play the 3, but didn't think he could. He obviously can't put on weight, kind of Kirilinkoish. However, I have seen some significant improvements in his mobility and shot, and I'm starting to think he is a late bloomer who could develop into a living-in-a-van-by-the-river's Durant. The caveat being that Durant still has forty pounds on him, but their length is similar. (how does Durant play the 3 at 240?)

... Burks in his natural position!

I think we're finding out the team is better off when he is in this position:
