Fascilitating a trade that help other teams contend

I posted this trade idea on Real GM yesterday:

One of the mods, Jazzfan, says no because he does not want to make Houston and OKC better. Why not, I say. If we are going to rebuild/tank, why do we care who wins for the next couple of years? If we get in a position where we can gain some important assets for a team that MIGHT be great in 2-3 years, should we really care that we help another team get the title in the process? Maybe it`s because I`m Norwegian and don`t get the rivalry between teams, but I don`t think that should be a factor at all. We should be about positioning ourselves for the future, period.

Teams do what they need to do to get better themselves. So the question is what's in the trade for the Jazz?

FWIW, I don't think Howard puts Houston over the top.

Al Jefferson in OKC would make them a solid contender.

I don't think getting Jeremy Lamb and Houston's pick will be enough.

- Jeremy Lamb is bad enough for OKC to not even have him on the bench during the season.

- Houston's pick with Ibaka, Howard, Harden, that won't be much of a pick.

Pass.
