Favors crossover move on the left Block

I have to disagree with you.

I generally associate the center position as being more of a pure back-to-the-basket player (ask Shaq). But Favors is better in the pick and roll and facing up vs posting up. Of our two future bigs, Kanter is definitely the better post up player, and I don't see that changing.

This obsession people have with labeling Favors as a 5 mainly derives from the oversimplification that "centers are the defenders and PF's are the scorers."

For me it has more to do with fluid body movement. The crossover form Favors last night was one of the few moves from him to says he is a PF. Most of the time he seems to just gather rebounds and tries to go back up or he just simply tries to overpower whoever is in front of him. Both of those are more characteristics of a center.

Don't forget about this simple move @ 1:40.

That's basically the oversimplification I was referring to: you're implying that a center's offensive responsibility is nothing more than garage play, and that's why Favors is a center. While that may sadly be the case for most centers in today's NBA, it's certainly not the prototypical center--one that establishes low post position and dazzles with back-to-the-basket play, ala Kanter.

Somebody on this team is helping these guys learn to play at C. Naw, that cannot be. Clearly the young guys are improving on their own.
