I have the habit of stalking forums for the opposing teams and just found this little gem on Pacersdigest:
Well, I damn near could have posted them at halftime. It was pretty obvious what adjustments Utah would make. And they made them. And they worked.

Derrick Favors would look pretty darn good in blue and gold.

It was obvious that in spite of Favors' early foul trouble, Utah was dumbfounded that the Pacers were really going to match up CJ Miles on him. You could just tell they were going to go after that matchup in the second half.

Without a doubt, the worst part of the third quarter was being out rebounded 21-6 (including team rebounds.) That's what small ball will get you.

Frank needs to think a bit more about the offensive schemes. This 5-out style looks bad in the following very predictable way. As the Pacers still don't have good enough shooters, when you're shooting as poorly as Indiana did you need somebody (ANYONE? BUELLLER?) in rebounding position. Way too many one-and-out possessions.

Similar stats to the other night: Utah's four primary post players (Favors, Gorbet, Booker, Lyles) dominated their Indiana counterparts (Ian, Turner, Allen) 33-19 (and 33-14 on the glass.) So even if you add CJ Miles to those numbers, the Pacers were clobbered 33-24 on the scoreboard and 33-16 on the glass. My point with these stats, if the Pacers truly want to compete with their perimeter players they need to really upgrade their perimeter players.

This would have been a good game for Frank to play the "big" lineup instead.

Have I mentioned anything about Derrick Favors?

I thought tonight that the Pacers had Jordan Hill in a role that could help the team succeed. Next, please give his active roster spot to GRIII.

We've seen two great first halves now from Turner. Along with two second half appearances where he did nothing. I don't think it has anything to do with his motor or effort. There are definitely adjustments being made at halftime to keep the ball out of his hands. Now the question is, which team is making the adjustments? The Pacers stop moving the ball, and the opponent looks to take away some passing lanes. But my goodness, there would be a lot of room for discouragement if Turner didn't bring energy or life to the last two games.

Talk on the postgame radio show about needing about 20 games to really know what you've got, good or bad. While I generally believe that to be true, this season (offseason) is a bit extenuating against that rule of thumb. The roster is incomplete, and as it stands now is not competitive. I know some of you thought otherwise but this is not a surprise to me. What does need to happen, though, is for Bird to have enough time to see what this roster needs to better complement George Hill and Paul George. And as of tonight, Derrick Favors would look pretty darn good in blue and gold.
