Favors per game stats

21.7 points on 59.1% from the floor and 81.2% from line where he's taken 5.33 attempts. Add in 9 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals, 1.67 assists, and just 3 personal fouls and 1.33 turnovers and I love what I see.

I think this is what we all envisioned three years ago.

shows you how much bill simmons knows.

He said Favors is a bench player in his eyes.

There is a danger from drawing conclusions from insufficient evidence. 3 games is just so... little to go from. The start is good, lets hope he keeps this level throughout the year.

Drop his best game and worst game to get a more accurate picture. But 3 games in he's doing pretty good.

Yeah most of the teams we are going to play are even softer in the middle than Houston or Dallas. The best part is that Favors now knows that he is a mismatch for teams without all-star bigs, and is playing like it. He knew Len wasn't going to stop him.

Sure, but his PER is only 36.

Loved his play last night. Played with a lot of heart and passion, and played like a bully inside. They need to run more pick'n roll with him and Hayward. Hayward was the one guy that could actually get Favors the ball in those situations.

One of the relevant knocks on Favors is that he has a tendency to play down to his competition. Miles Plumlee is a decent post player but I doubt he makes many lists where he's in the top half of centers in the league. Favors came out, dominated and played hungry. His numbers are not the accomplishment at this point, it's his attitude.

I just finished the game. It was like he woke up and ate his wheaties and then went out during the game and popped open a can of spinach. I haven't seen aggression like that from a Jazz player since Karl Malone.

Even if he comes back to earth a bit as teams start keying on him, I'd say 18/9 would be a great season offensively for Favors. As the season progresses, the outside shooting HAS to be better. Or we'll see teams doubling Derrick and just letting Trey and others shoot bricks.

Agree. And the other thing to note is that he did it when the jazz were struggling to score They got down 9-2, were playing poorly and Favors just put the team on his back. We all wanted a team leader. I think Derrick has now served notice. Also can't downplay Hayward in that respect. Gordon definitely showed some nastiness. From Favors to Hayward to Booker, Gobert and others, this team definitely has an edge they never showed in the previous few seasons.

Yep, I agree with those sentiments. It was great to see him showing some leadership and will to impose himself on the opposing team.

Don't forget he's averaging those numbers in 30 mins per. His per36 is 25/10 right now. Awesome!

Let me just expound on my initial thoughts which were around one in the morning last night. I understand it is a tiny sample size which we really shouldn't take too seriously but it's fun and this year needs to finally be fun for us.

Anyway, like others have said, those stats are for just over 30 minutes a night and in games where we played Dwight and Chandler. Knowing that puts a bigger smile on my face. However, one other significant item that should be mentioned is that we are currently 7th in the league in three point attempts and 9th in three point percentage--though it is a crappy percentage. I think this style of play (which has been sorely lacking for years now here) will only get better as players get more accustomed to Quin/Spurs basketball and develop both individually and within that Spurs concept. This, to me at least, is important because it may really help spread the floor for Favors down low. Obviously we have to hit the threes for opponents to respect us but I think this may be a huge factor in how Favors develops this year.
