In the last 2 games between the teams COMBINED,
Demarcus Cousins scored*67*points (in 73:58 minutes)
and Rudy Gobert scored...*2*points! (in 52:00 minutes)
I think Utah is my new favorite non-Kings team.
I love what they are doing there and I really like their roster. No stars just good all around team play. Snyder is quite impressive as well.
The Jazz look like a lottery team without Hill but with him and Hayward they look like a top 4 seed, it's amazing the difference Hill has made for them when healthy.
I expect a comfortable Jazz win, despite their injuries. We will compete but we consistently come up short in crunch time. Boogie needs more help.
Cousins has to get physical with Gobert, he wants no part of it. Could be a long night if he falls in love with jumpshot.
Injuries aside the Jazz play at the slowest pace in the league and score efficiently. They also defend well holding teams to a league best 96 pts per game. Also, they are 18th in the league in player fouls and are the second worst offensive rebounding team.
In spite of Rudy Gobert stalking in the paint, I would really like to see Cousins go to work on the block. Get them in foul trouble and crash the offensive glass for second chance points. They are a great defensive team, second chance points will be critical.
Gobert hasn't had much luck against Cousins in the past. Not strong enough. Favors was the tougher matchup, but of course not a problem tonight.
Hill's replacement in SG is*Ingles, the Ozzie, whom I got to know from YEARS in Europe (Barcelona, Tel-Aviv...). The guy can light you up from the 3 (as he DID to the Warriors 2 night ago), is an exceptional rebounder for his position, and is one of the most capable stealers I've ever seen (He's got that false sense of sloth-like moves*, but then he surprises you with very quick hands...)
PLEASE TAKE THIS ONE SERIOUSLY KINGS, REGARDLESS OF INJURIES!*
WE ARE STILL DEFINITELY THE UNDERDOG TONIGHT!
How do you get beat down the court by Boris ****ing Diaw? A professional athlete shouldn't be able to get outrun by Diaw, even by accident.
Man, that Jazz ball movement...
They are splashing 3 after 3 so of course we decide to pack up the paint and over help on drives.
We're seriously losing letting this be a competitive game? The Jazz are without their starting PG, starting SG, and starting PF.*
After Kings start 11-0, Jazz go on a 20-3 run.
I*find myself in the odd position of rooting for the Jazz to win.
Maybe it’s not that odd though, their players are a whole lot easier to root for
And is Cuz just getting destroyed by Gobert or what?
It's hard enough to score on a team when you can't stretch the floor, and your best player is a center, but it's doubly hard when you're playing a team with an elite shot blocker.
So apparently the Utah Jazz have an "awkward dad dance cam" which is way better than our IMO horrible cowbell cam
Gobert is long. How come Willie can't block shots like that
Gobert's combination of length and speed makes him a problematic matchup: he's not strong enough to deny Cousins position in the post, but he's so freakishly long, that it doesn't matter. Against players where Cousins has a height disadvantage, he can usually face them up, and take them off the dribble, but Gobert is also one of maybe two centers in the league who's fast enough to keep up with him from out there. It's like, the only thing you can do to take him out of the game is to catch fire from outside.
How does an NBA team lose to another team that turns the ball over 21 times
So... basically, every time they*don't*turn it over, they score.
This is a blow-out against a team missing their starting PG, SG, and PF.
The other night, we lost against the sucky Knicks without D-Rose...but this lost hurt worse. Our starters couldn't keep up with their bench...that's pretty damn sad.
Utah is a damn good team.
Missing half their team, but the thing is, they've been a good team all year missing guys left and right. Hill and Favors have been there less than half the time. Burks has been gone all year.
I hope everybody realizes this is the best team we've faced in two weeks at least.
These Jazz have turned it over 22 times giving up 36 points off of them
and they are going to win this game! Good lord!
EIGHT POINTS IN THE FOURTH?
Legendary 1 digit score for the 4th quarter
We didn't break the NBA record for fewest points scored in a quarter.
The Jazz, unlike us, actually buy in to playing defense.
Has to be the lowest points in a quarter in years...somebody look it up please, I can't stand it anymore.
The Jazz I think are now 8-2 in their last 10. One of those losses was to the Warriors. Their injuries have hardly been keeping them from beating teams left and right.
You seem to be arguing that injuries are a more important factor than fatigue. I don't know that I agree with that. The Jazz are injury depleted, but the guys they*did*have were fully rested, and we were playing the second night of a back-to-back, in arguably the second-worst place to play on the second night of a B2B in US sports (second-highest elevation of any city with a "major" professional sports team in the United States).
The Jazz are simply better than the Kings even with the starters out. It doesn't matter if the Kings had a week of rest and the Jazz were on a back-to-back, they would have beaten the Kings. Our star players wanted no part of Gobert and the Kings cannot win w/o Cousins.
Anytime the Kings tried to get anything going in the paint, there was Rudy Gobert roleplaying as a bouncer for a very exclusive nightclub, denying entrance to anyone wearing purple. Gobert tallied 6 blocks on the night, but his impact was felt on almost every possession. He got in DeMarcus Cousins’ head as well, as Cousins was completely flustered and unable to get anything going. Cousins finished with just 16 points on 7-22 shooting, thanks in large part to Gobert’s defense. Gobert was also exceedingly efficient on offense, scoring 17 points on just 6 shots to go with a game-high 14 rebounds.
At least the Jazz didn’t have George Hill or Favors so we could pretend to have a competitive game for three quarters. Go Kings! Everything is great!
Stifle Tower:*Rudy Gobert was a force on both ends of the floor as he anchored the Jazz tonight in their victory. In tonight’s contest, Gobert finished the game scoring 17 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and swatting 6 blocks, the ideal stat line for a shot blocker that is on the up-and-coming.
