Since there has been some changes among the teams a la coaches, players, game style etc., i really wonder wht will happen for the jazz organization. It is normal and even an obligation for the failed teams such as Bobcats,Cavs,Magic,L.A, Mavericks etc but how about for the jazz? Reaching the playoffs was really overachieving but was it enough to make u optimistic about the future?

I always defend the team culture and game style is big part of the team culture. Though Jazz really need to change his game plans as i believe. We already have read lots of posts or blogs about the players' improvement but how about the preperation of coach staff?

For the upcoming season, i wanna see:

The flow of the game up : It is even more obligation if Harris stays. Even i do not like his PG abilities, it is his strength and you gotta make him free to operate for the pace of the game. Also, more efficiency comes for Favors, Millsap, Hayward.

Giving chance to Hayward to become point forward: Hayward's strenght is his ball handling skills on his position and it gives more chance for him to make pick n roll play or driving to the basket. Better than making him spot up shooter

More pick n roll and pick n pop: It is about Al yea but you can not go ahead playing low post till forever so for flow of the game and spacing, you gotta make plays pick n roll from 3 to 4 or 3 to 5. This can give chance balanced offense, more spacing, better shot chance for the perimeter player staying opposite angle of pick n roll. Kanter and Millsap have gotta be used more pick n pop. That can give more operating chance for Favors too.

Using more 3 point shots: It is one of the biggest Jazz problem and it can be solved just by new faces. So, i really wish to hear a name of deadly shooter. Not so optimistic about the Burks or Hayward consistent shooting.

Working on zone defense: Not so many teams try it in short periods but it is really big advantage to change the momentum. You gotta use it against the teams who have good penetration players and it makes u avoid the foul problems.

The rotation plan: Sure, giving more chance to Kanter, Burks, Favors, Hayward but more matter thing is having flexibility due to players' performance. You do not always have to play the starters till the end of 1st period or take the back ups out of the game before the last period.

The creativity: I wanna see some creative game tactics after the time outs especially at the end of the game. No more Big Al's post up

Another wonderful post illyasova. Thanks for your work.

I hope we somehow get a passing pg but if we can't I'm with you on giving a (last) chance to Harris. I mean we know he's capable for way more things than he did last season, and if we consider that Hayward will be more efficient new season, he really can reduce the stress of Harris and they can complete each other.

I think the Jazz used Millsap enough as a pick&pop option, but I definitely agree on that we should use Kanter the same way too. People say he's too slow while shooting but I don't think he's slower than Boozer. First year he did what he was asked for, this year he deserves the shooting chances. But for this I admit that he gotta improve his screening.

Using more 3 point shots: It is one of the biggest Jazz problem and it can be solved just by new faces. So, i really wish to hear a name of deadly shooter. Not so optimistic about the Burks or Hayward consistent shooting.

I said this before too, I believe Burks will(can) be a better shooter than everyone expecting, it's just a hunch over my personal observation about his rushing while he's shooting, if he changes that he can surprise many people. Then again, it would be ridiculous to act with such a hunch so obviously the Jazz should seek every opportunity to find that deadly shooter.

Working on zone defense: Not so many teams try it in short periods but it is really big advantage to change the momentum. You gotta use it against the teams who have good penetration players and it makes u avoid the foul problems.

I understand your point here but I don't know if it really worth to practise zone defense, because it's not easy to learn and perform it effectively. They will need to spend a lot of working hours on it. And the thing is, with my five years of watching NBA experience, I really understand why the teams aren't willing to execute zone defense. When you zone defensing in the NBA it requires ridiculously large place to cover and when you can't do it perfectly it may cause an automatic three points. Even in the european basketball some say it's not effective as much as the old times because of the increased three point line distance and increasing athleticism in the euro teams. And when you think the referee calls(rules) in the NBA I don't think it will be that effective either against the slashers as much as in the euro ball. I agree on the momentum thing but it's already being used by the nba teams that way and we even call it "yalancı zone"(fake zone) as you know. So maybe we could use it too that way.

The rotation plan: Sure, giving more chance to Kanter, Burks, Favors, Hayward but more matter thing is having flexibility due to players' performance. You do not always have to play the starters till the end of 1st period or take the back ups out of the game before the last period.

I have nothing to add to these remarks.

funny i thought jazz underachieved when it comes to regular season record

It's an overachieving according to the expectations before the season.

But after the season finished I can't help myself but think the Jazz could have done a little bit better with better rotations and a better offensive tactic than the static "give the ball to Big Al" tactic. (Ahem, maybe with a better coach.)
