I also love the bipolarness of the board... One night we win and we don't need anything... Next night we lose and we have to get help before trade deadline. There is a balance with adding players and disrupting chemistry but we can add a player without things nose diving like the Pacers and Suns did.

Ten points from our bench?

Am I reading that right?

I think something like half of those points were free throws. They made maybe 2 shots from the floor.

Bench sucked last night. Game was a bit sloppy but the Jazz were right there the whole game. There was absolutely zero contribution from the bench and that ultimately sealed the deal.

I love Booker's hustle and enthusiasm. But towards the end of last season, I took a lot of heat (and got a few negs) for saying the Jazz needed to replace Booker with someone who could shoot.

1. Let's not blame Booker for the loss last night. He had ONE turnover in 20 minutes. Favors had 5. Hayward, Hood and Gobert all had 3. Jazz had 17 TO's compared to 9 for New Orleans.

2. Hayward was one of the heroes vs. Dallas. But last night he was off again shooting-wise. He went 7/18, including 2/9 on his threes. Overall this season he's pretty "meh," with averages of 43%/35%.

Neg away, everyone, but I STILL maintain it is worth handing the play making reins over to Hood and seeing what we can get for Hayward. It's not a guarantee he even WANTS to stay. And his production just doesn't warrant giving him a contract that would be pretty close to $150M over 5 years. He's not a superstar. He's not even an all-star given his numbers. He's a high-end starter. But I think Utah would be better off with a DWill haul for him instead of likely sacrificing one of the other starters down the road in order to not go over the luxury tax if GH demands a max contract. Or to be left with NOTHING if he signs with a team like Indiana so he can be closer to all his family and his wife's family.

Speaking of TO's, the Jazz, surprisingly, are middle of the pack in total per game (perhaps due to pace?). However, they are tied for last (with Phoenix and Philadeplhia) for assist to turnover ratio at 1.2. OUCH!

Not surprisingly, GS and SA lead the league in ATO ratio. I'm not a statistician (so I won't use the word "correlation"), but it appears teams that hold on to the ball and help teammates get baskets have much better success than those who give it up and just pass for passing's sake.

I honestly think our offense is best when we don't pass as much.
Just give the ball to Hayward or hood and let them do their thing whether 1 on 1 or in a pick and roll. Let them make a play for themselves or others.

Offense also looks good when neto gets into the paint.


I rarely see something good come from rudy holding the ball at the three point line and then handing it off to someone after they go around Rudy even further away from the basket.
Yet that seems to be what we do the most of

Holy crap. Great vid. Rep worthy. How in the hell did this kid slip to #23?

Also, love seeing some fire/swagger from him in college. We're starting to see that now with the Jazz. Good sign that his confidence is starting to really pick up now. Along with his performance, it bodes well for him becoming a #1 option down the line. All the top guys have that.

Agreed. It would make some sense if he had gone to an obscure school (like Weber State) where scouts might not see him, or even if they did they could assume that the level of the competition was making him look good, but how in the hell did a guy who was performing like that at a school that's always heavily scouted and which consistently plays top competition at a high level (and is coached by a guy notoriously good at getting his players drafted high) drop to #23.It just doesn't make sense. We got really, really lucky!

He definitely slid in the draft. If I remember right I feel like he was projected as basically a non-explosive good shooter, and smart PNR player. I remember a big knock being defense and attacking the rim. Still slid quite a bit and we cashed in big.

Crazy thing is that in that vid he is attacking the rim more aggressively than I've ever seen him do it as a Jazzman. If he adds that part back into his game, holy crap!

Booker is almost always playing off the ball, waiting to rush in for an offensive rebound/clean up. So he'd have fewer turnovers on the basis that he wouldn't touching the ball nearly as much.

With all that happened, we were down 2, on the road where refs sucked , back and forth, 22 seconds, the ball, no shot clock.

Why in the hell did we not run our offense and go for a game winning 3. That is the only way we would have won.

Even if Favors hit his 2, they had 15 seconds and odds we stopped them were low.

I thought not taking the last shot was the correct call.
If you hold for the last shot and miss. You lose. That's it.

If you don't hold for the last shot then you have more chances to win.
You can miss the shot and still possibly win the game
