What's new

Gerald Green?

What about his BB IQ? Some say that he changed and plays smart now, I don't believe though...

I watched him a lot this year and he certainly is a better player than he was when he came into the league. He was just a dunker and had no idea how to play the game. He has grow up and studied the game. I would certainly love to see the Jazz go after him. I think he could be had for less than the MLE. I would rather have him instead of Howard. Perhaps a 4 year $4 million salary. Similar to Giricek. The fourth year could be a team option.

^^^ Perfect! I would be so D for G

13 ppg in 25 mpg is what he averaged last year with 48% field goals and 39% from 3. Perfect 2/3. 6'8 athletic as sheeet. I call Co prez for the signing of him.

But.... we all know this aint gonna happen

Utahjazz107 you finally made a thread I can mostly agree with although I think you are offering to much with the mle.

I would be a little bit leery of the full MLE, but if we could get him for CJ money I have a hard time believing he wouldn't be what CJ was supposed to be.

I'm interested in him. I think having been on the wrong side of the good/bad basketball divide and has seemingly migrated to the light, he could be valuable in the locker room.

But I don't presume to be an expert on Gerald Green. But from my angle, and under the right circumstances, could be a very shrewd signing.

If he duplicates what he did this year, he is better than an MLE player.

If he could duplicate that for a full season, instead of 31 games, on a good team, instead of an awful one, then yes.

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him, but the full MLE is just seems too risky for 31 games worth of work. He does provide some serious scoring/shooting off the bench though.

That being said, I guess you have to take risk to get good players. It's just puzzling that he has never stuck with a single team despite loads of scoring, shooting, and athletic talent. He really seems to be a victim of the High School era. 3 years in college would have done this kid wonders.

Interesting Jazz tie in, he was once traded for Kirk Snyder and lit the Rocky Mountain Review on fire (in what I think was it's last year).

The kid has always had a ton of talent but he is a shining example of why kids should go to college. He admits he was immature and didn't know how to play basketball. I think the Jazz should target this kid because a few years struggling has seemingly humbled him and made the kid understand how to take his profession seriously. I would sign this kid over bringing back CJ, Howard and even Carroll. He has learned to play within the system but has the athletic ability to create his own shot.

Getting Gerald Green clears a big logjam we currently have. I'd say goodbye to all three guys mentioned above. Green is still young too, still developing.

I rented Dannie Ainge a car during the RMR the year he drafted Gerald Green. I asked him about the kid. He said the kids got as much raw talent as any one he's seen. He also stated he's a total nut job and hopes he can get threw to him. He couldn't. I agree it looks like he's grown up a lot and still has all those tools. But talking with Ainge I'd be really worried about giving that kid big money. Who knows maybe he's figured it out. If so he could be special.

I'll replace "what would Jesus do" with "what would the Spurs do" Seriously. Would the Spurs sign this kid?

I wll admit I am intrigued. He could be a nice asset. I would assume Brooklyn will get first dibs since they gave him a chance.
