Im going to assume that both our picks this year will outside the lottery. If one is in the lottery, it will most likely be just inside at the 14th pick.

This is just to get an idea what are chances are at getting a good player in this next years draft.

Of course this is just based off my opinion, but you can judge who I put out there. Im not saying all these players were great, but at least they werent complete busts.

We will skip 2012 since it isn't clear yet.

Didn't put Gorgui Dieng on the list because he's gonna stay another year and graduate. He'll be on the list next year.
Didn't put Myck Kabongo on the list because why would he enter the draft when he could stay another year and be a lottery pick?

Each one of those classes has at least one stud. So its possible we can nab one

2011

22. Kenneth Faried

2010

18. Eric Bledsoe

2009

17. Jrue Holiday

2008

24. Serge Ibaka

2007

48. Marc Gasol

2006

21. Rajon Rondo

2005

17. Danny Granger

2004

17. Josh Smith

There is an argument that some of those had multiple studs in in it.

Point is, there is a trend that we will have a shot at an Allstar caliber player. Especially since we have two picks.

The most common draft spot that lands someone really good is 17. I hope one of our picks is 17.

We should go after the St. Marys PG..... He's like the Australian Jimmer. The chicks will dig him. We haven't had a dude that would sell pink jerseys like that since Korver.

The 17th overrall picks

In those drafts were

2011

17. Iman Shumpert

2010

17. Kevin Seraphin

2009

17. Jrue Holiday

2008

17. Roy Hibbert

2007

17. Sean Williams

2006

17. Shawne Williams

2005

17. Danny Granger

2004

17. Josh Smith

So the formula for drafting a stud after the lottery is....

Land the 17th pick

Dont draft anyone named Sean Williams

Dont draft a Euro

Good news is, there is no one named Shawne Williams in this draft.

Other possibilities. .
Lebryan Nash
Adonis Thomas (if he comes out)
Kabongo (I've never, ever, been high on him .. but maybe)
Tony Mitchell

Interesting that a lot of mock drafts have CJ McCollum right around 17

Hmmm....

Is that our stud?

With the 17th pick in the 2013 NBA draft. The Utah Jazz select CJ Mcollum.

The gem that was hidden because of the broken foot.

I'd be very pleased picking up CJ at 17 ... very.

McAdoo at 17.

McCollum assists in the past 4 years = 2.4, 2.1, 3.5, 2.9. No thanks.

I haven't heard this guys name since he was drafted. Does he even play? I don't even know who he plays for. Your telling me Tobias Harris is a good player?

He was on the Bucks, was dog-housed and traded to Magic. Since he has been on the Magic he has been putting up great numbers.

I am on the McCollum bandwagon as well

Why the hell are you guys so high on this McCollum guy? We need a pass first PG and McCollum is shoot first. Also, he sucks hard at the pick and roll...

I haven't committed yet to being on his band wagon. I was just pointing out that he was projected to be around 17. Im just playing around with my theory. I have only seen some highlights of him. I like his ability to score. He plays kind of smooth. I am to concerned with his low assists. But college stats dont always translate to the NBA. I don't even know who he plays with. For all I know, his teammates can't hit shots. He looks like a pretty good ball player on film. Maybe he'll be like a George Hill type of player. Im not sure.

I like to get towards the draft more when I can see some workouts, interviews ,and measurements before I can say one way or another. From the looks of it, I would say he looks like he can at least stick in the NBA.

Ill be happy if we get Burke or Smart too. Im just hoping we can get one of the top point guards.

It's called picking #17.. it's not about being 'so high' .. it's about value/potential upside with a mid-first pick.

Yes yes, I forgot this thread was about players who will be decent after the 14th not about who we should draft. I retract my statement. Still, if we had the 17th pick, personally, I wouldn't want him.

James McAdoo. If we don't resign Millsap next year we could play Marvin as the backup PF while developing McAdoo to be the backup PF for the year after when we don't resign Marvin.

You have to pay royalties to me for that avatar. I made up the Kermit the Frog/Corbin comparison.
