Grantland Article on Exum, Vonleh and Gordon

My question is this: IS there ANYBODY out there at the number 5 pick that can actually SHOOT and has basketball brains??? We all know this is an offensive minded league that caters to the offensive player. So our pick doesn't have to be a great defensive player, but one that can hit open shots, know where he's suppose to be on the floor, can spread the floor and get the ball to teammates who can hit open shots as well! Does such a player exist in THIS draft?

Maybe it might be Doug McDermott? ;)
I would have no problem if they wanted to take him at #5.

Listening to David Locke's hangout. Jody is a guest there, and he thinks jazz will go with AIR GORDON at 5 pick. Jazz doesn't like any power forwards, since they have too many flaws.

4 year college kid that can actually shoot! Knows the game of basketball inside and out! Has a ton of intangibles! Only draw back?......he's white.

The more I analyze Gordon and Volneh, the less I like them. I just don’t see them becoming impact players in NBA, or even solid starters. Gordon with his 42% FT shooting and not having a true position is of particular concern. I feel it would be a tremendous waste of a pick to get one of these guys. Smart and Randle seem to be much better choices. How in the world did Gordon and Volneh leapfrogged over Randle, when Randle actually LED his team to the NCAA finals, was far and away the best player there, and averaged double-double in the process? As a freshman. If Volneh measured so well, why couldn’t he become impact player in NCAA his first year? Randle did.

Marcus Smart, while did not take his team far, was the leader of the team, and best player. Actually improved his shooting in second year. And his stats are pretty sick. Steals, boards, assists… Look very similar to Paul George in NCAA, but from PG spot. Sure we have Burke at point, but I feel we gotta take best player available. If we get to #5, and Smart or Randle are there, I would definitely choose these over Gordon and Volneh.

Take Embiid if he is there, please. Sit him all year, let him get healthy, and we have either a major, major trade asset or a stud center.

And slow. And no one knows what position he can actually play in the NBA.
Great 6th man candidate. Not going to be a starter.

Since there is nothing else he can become other than a major trade asset or a stud center. Remind again what Portland got in return for Oden?

...Larry Bird was slow. Magic Johnson was slow! Heck, Dirkowitz is slow! Rather have slow, smart and can shoot.....than fast, stupid and dumb!

Larry Bird averaged around 4 assists, Magic Johnson was a PG with elite passing skills, Dirk Nowitzki has elite size. Doug averages 1.6 assists and has an average size and he is slow.
