One of my earliest jobs while I was in college was as a "manager" of a tiny copy shop. The owner was a douche who repaired copy machines for a living and tried to manage everything by remote control. When my first child was born I asked for 2 weeks off to spend time with my wife and the baby, which he allowed (sans pay of course). A friend of mine covered for me during the 2 weeks. While I was out, my friend had a problem completing a job and called me for help. I told him over the phone what to do, and that he should call the owner if he had more problems as I was supposed to be off. He did just that and finally got the job done, but had to do it 3 times to get it right. Later, several months later actually, the owner came in on a Saturday and berated me for screwing up that job that happened while I was off with my new child, stating he was going to dock my pay to pay for the botched job. I told him that I wasn't there at the time, and that it had nothing to do with me. He said I needed to stop making excuses and accept responsibility. So I told him to cram it up his *** and that I quit. I then walked out and never went back.
My question. Should I have said cram it up your ****ing *** and maybe knocked **** off tables and stuff as I left, or was cram it up your *** and quietly walking out just fine in the circumstance?
