Heath Ledger's inspiration for the Joker?

I read an article/interview on him where he talked about him locking himself in hotel room for 30 days with nothing but a copy of some book that he used to get himself into character. Sounded kind of creepy to be honest.

All I got out of that video is that Tom Waits' speaking voice is annoying, but not nearly as annoying as his singing voice.

Also to throw another twist into this Tom Waits acted in Heath Ledgers final movie "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus".

No. He based it on Alex DeLarge.

I remember I first saw the film with a couple of friends, and then we went back to his house that same day and watched -- by sheer freakin' coincidence -- A Clockwork Orange. I picked the movie -- I had never seen it, and didn't even really know what it was about. Of course, I noticed the similarities. Then I came on this board and mentioned it, and someone claimed I had read about the similarities in interviews or something. Nope, just sheer dumb luck.

Really too bad Ledger's dead. He really seemed to have the potential to be an all-time great actor if he'd stuck around a little longer.

I remember reading that too, and I'm almost positive that book was The Killing Joke. That, and Alex DeLarge were supposedly his main inspirations.

More like "Imaginarium of Doctor Suckassus"...that movie sucked.

But this Tom Waits interview is like dead on with how Joker acts. Tom seemed a little drunk to me.
Nice find, this was awesome.
