How bad is Pliess?

He is what you think when you think of a stereotypical big white stiff, though his feet are quicker than expected.

I remember many who were chanting about how Pliess will be so much better than Enes Kanter after the trade

Pleiss was just Tomic's backup in Spain. Lindsey made a risky bet bringing him in Nba.

Same story for Neto, he played in an average team in Spain and he never dominated in Europe.

He looked good in those Euro League highlight vids. Now it's not looking great. Withey deserves his minutes.

He's not bad, relative to some of the back-up C's. He's no Ajinca. He's most likely overpaid at his current salary though.. He would greatly benefit playing with a PG like Schroder, that can really collapse the defense at will.

There's an element of flimsiness to his game.. I've been checking in on Hezonja for years, so I've seen him play more than a few times. He's mobile, but don't get that twisted, he's like 2nd round pick quality, IMO. Walter Tavares is a much better 7'3" prospect..

Tomic is markedly better.

IMO Lyles is better, the offense relies on players making good reads late in the shot-clock and Trey's obviously much better than Pleiss with that. Lyles had a nice dump off to Hayward to start the game, which was promptly blocked at the rim, was still a nice pass though.

He will never be great but he needs to time to settle and adapt to the faster pace and bigger bodies, which I expect will take most if not all of the season, whilst Lyles is also similar albeit slightly more advanced and presumably a faster learner, given his youthfulness. In the mean time however we mustn't allow their development to interfere with the rest of the team and development of learning how to win, as we must develop a winning culture and these guys can use the D league and late minutes in blowouts to develop. So here enters Whitney who can add value of the bench and preferably IMO we trade for a back up big, someone like Taj Gibson who is guarantee of the bench.

You can also add Neto to the same group as these guys who need time to adapt and develop an NBA skill set.

Raul Neto is doing just fine for an NBA rookie. I see him becoming more of a Tony Parker type player with edgier passing.

I wonder if Pleiss can develop much. It's not his skill level, it's strength. He doesn't have the strength to battle under the board. And Neto, why is everyone so down on him? He's doing a lot better than expected in my opinion. Will he ever be Tony Parker -- no way, but he could become a solid PG in the NBA.
