HS Football in Utah just got a huge kick...

It was an almost perfect season that officially never was.

Top-ranked East will be forced to forfeit seven games this season, including four of its five region contests, after they played four ineligible players.

Whooaaa! Did not see this coming!

UHSAA just dumped East High, the #1 team in 4a, outttttt of the playoffs. I'm also hearing rumors that Timpview (the #2 team) is next!

How crazy would that make 4a? I wonder if this will soon spread to 5a... Wouldn't it be something if the top teams have to miss the playoffs because of this type of stuff?

All I can say is... IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!

It's about time the UHSAA finally enforced its' own rules!

That's interesting. It sounds like Timpview may still be able to sneak into the playoffs.

And that's really all they need. If they sneak into the playoffs then they'll probably be happy. They're still the best team in 4a IMO... The only team that could have knocked them out would have been East.

If however, they are knocked out too... Then 4a becomes WWIIIIIDDDEEE open. Teams like Herriman, Orem, and Logan would have to be considered the contenders.

Personally, I hope they throw the book at Timpview. Get rid of all these cheaters. Teach these folks a lesson. Then, they should look at 5a and throw the book at Bingham, Cottonwood, and Lone Peak. It's about time the UHSAA cleans up sports here in Utah. It has become diiiirrttttyyyy.

If you're going to have rules, enforce them. If not, then let anyone go anywhere they want. No more sitting on the fence anymore.

Knew this was coming. Played East earlier year and we had kids ineligible that did not play. This is on the coach.

When I played at Granger there was no way we should have been eligible. I had multiple classes with multiple starters and never saw a single one of them come to class. About half of our starters should have been academically ineligible.

This is exactly why the UHSAA needs to stick to their guns and not bend with all the crying parents filing for appeals.

This kind of BS has been gone on for years and years. I'm sorry that many kids at East will have to pay the price... And hopefully Timpview... And hopefully some of the big boys in 5a... But enough is enough.

Many schools have been punished for a long time because they've followed the rules. Too many schools have taken advantage of laxed UHSAA's enforcement of the rules...

Time for the hammer to come down.

Either you have rules or you don't.

If they go back on this, then I hope they abolish all rules altogether and just let anyone play wherever they want. If they want to maintain rules then they MUST stick to their decision on East. And from what I'm hearing, Timpview is next. They've already agreed to forfeit a few games already. One game against Maple Mountain they claimed that the kid hadn't played... We just went over that game film and he did. So..... What's the punishment for lying???

I'd like to see their whole season go up in flames. Give East and Timpview, the big boys in 4a the ax. In a year or two HS sports will be MUCH cleaner because of this.
