That is 9 players the jazz have under contract, and another five they have talked about signing/bringing back. Basically a full roster! We are hearing all this talk about oj mayo, and millsap, and other free agents, but it looks to me like this is the "young and lean" roster that Dennis has been hinting at this year.

The professional tank is on. How good can our young guys be? We are about to find out!

I predict we have at least a couple perennial all stars in the young core, and a couple above average starters. I think with this core, we are set for the future.

Perhaps we can add another guy in the next year or two, but I like the chances of the team we have assembled.

You see the ATomic Bomb as a roster possibility?

Haha. Awesome nickname. I think if tomic is coming to the nba, it will be now or never. When I say now or never I mean this year or next year. He is going to be too old pretty soon. It seems like a good possibility that he could be here this fall, but who knows?

From what I understand, Tomic's buyout isn't as bad as it used to be. He looked so-so 2 years ago, but rebounded this past year with a great season and looks like he's developed into one of (if not THE) best big men in Europe. He's gotten bigger, but he still looks like he'd be a liability in the NBA on defense. I'd say that he's an offensive rotational big man to come off the bench and complement Gobert (who is essentially the defensive version of Tomic) behind Favors/Kanter.

I think that there's a place for him in the NBA and the Jazz have a need for a 3rd big and the cash and cap spce to bring him over. He'd get more minutes now if Jefferson and Milsap leave, so it might be more appealing to him as well. I agree that it's now or never. If Lindsey wants him here, I have to think that he'll make it happen. I think it would be a great move to bring him over now and see how a Favors, Kanter, Tomic and Gobert front court rotation would work together.

I agree with the premise of the original post. . .

I love how this young roster is shaping up.

Derek Favors
Enes Kanter
Gordon Hayward
Alec Burks
Trey Burke
Marvin Williams
Rudy Gobert
DeMarre Carroll

But they need minutes. If DL is at all concerned about Corbin playing veteran minutes over the young guys he should fill the roster with DL guys and undrafted free agents. The Jazz should be looking for cheap cast-offs and hope they find the next Jeremy Lin or Wesley Matthews to compliment the Young Guns. I'm hoping to see Stockton show improvement in the summer league and get a spot.

Well you also have to consider what Tomic wants and what he feels is a comfortable situation for him to come in. May be he doesn't like the idea of slogging through 82 games of "learning" basketball. May be he wants to come in when Favors/Kanter are already well established and he can just be like Tiago Splitter and slot in as a 3rd big on a winning team.

I do think the Tomic situation has a lot more to do with what he wants vs what we want.

That's a pretty mean looking rooster.

LOL.. everytime I type the word "taproom" to get into your forum, it gives me dirty thoughts........... not sure if you intended that.

Starting Five
Derek Favors
Enes Kanter
Gordon Hayward
Alec Burks
Trey Burke

Bench
Any combination of. . .
Ante Tomic (Europe)
Rudy Gobert
Jeremy Evans
DeMarre "JYD" Carroll
Marvin Williams
Kevin Murphy
Jerel McNeal
Michael Stockton (Summer League)
Raul Neto (Europe)

Plus any undrafted free agents, summer league players and/or cheap free agents that they want to use to fill out the roster.

This roster screams huge potential two years from now with time, development, experience and a couple more pieces added to it like a 2014 lottery player and maybe a free agent or two. They need to save those moves until after they've seen what the Core 5 can do for a full year together.

Listen blowhards! Tomic isn't ever going to come over. How you think for a second that it's even slightly possible he could come over is dumb and dare I say idiotic!
