Today is nothing.

Hayward is nothing.

We are Jazz!

We will look back on today and laugh.

We lost nothing!

It's stupid to ignore the fact we lost a huge piece. You can admit today sucks and still be a Jazz fan.

I enjoy being a Jazz fan, especially when my expectations aren't very high. Recently, I was thinking the Jazz could have Hayward and Kevin Love.

And the wonderful thing is as long as we have a good team I'm convinced Rudy will re-sign when his extension is up. After all, a guy who exclaims "these hoes ain't loyal" isn't gonna want to be a Hayward-ho.

We're going to see a loyalty theme this season, that's for certain.

The only way I look back at today and laugh is if we win a championship any time soon. And I don't see it happening. I think that any chance we had of a championship with this core group ended up on route to Boston today. Because of our roster and cap situation I don't see any way that we acquire two star players before Rudy either leaves or is no longer in his prime. Especially if the Jazz are unwilling to retool the roster right now. I think today set us back 10 years. 4 years until a rebuild begins and 5-6 more years after until we reap the rewards of that rebuild. I hope I'm wrong though.

Yeah, you're wrong. Rest assured and sleep easy, friend.

I actually became a fan of the Jazz at the start of Hayward's rookie season, so it'll be weird for me watching without him. Still, I'll be just as excited, and just as invested in every game. I look forward to watching the rise of our next all stars.

Utah will probably NEVER win a championship. It's not like we have a Lebron or Durant knocking on the door. Face it, Utah is a small market and there's still a stigma attached to the city and state. The ONLY way Utah competes is if the draft brings us unexpected bounty (like it did with Stockton and Malone and then Hayward and Gobert). And those finds need to be willing to stay.

I thought our best chance was hoping Hayward would stay and then adding Love or Millsap. It didn't happen. But I'll still remain a Jazz fan. And still hold out hope DL can add a forward who can play the 3 and 4 and sign Milos. Then we hope for home court and an injury to a key GS player.

This is the first time in franchise history the Jazz have been burned like this. I have no doubt how how this all went down will play into what they do with Rudy.

Rudy will re-up before it ever gets to that. Or if not he'll be man enough to quietly communicate it upfront to management.

I dunno about you guys but to me Hayward has never 'felt' quite like a 'Jazz' type player for me. He never seems to have committed fully to the Jazz culture the way Favors or Millsap, or Rudy or Ingles or other younger guys have.

I have always felt like he could bolt any moment provided there is better opportunity else where.

It's OK. We can move on from this. DL has already fixed the Lyles over Devin Booker mistake with Donovan Mitchell, I believe DL will also be able to fix this Hayward mis-step somewhow.
