I still love Kenneth Faried

The guy has a motor, he was not just beating everyone in the sprints but easily winning. They interviewed him and he say he wants to emulate Paul Millsap. I see a lot of similarities in not just game but also personality - Very humble guy that just wants to work, looks like he would be a fan favorite.

He's well on his way to a successful NBA career I believe. Which in this weak draft I can't say about a lot of guys.

I love him too, but the truth is he has no chance of cracking our filled rotation up front. He will be a perfect backup 4 for someone, and potentially even a starter down the line for a team that can afford to have a guy that does nothing offensively.

^ I agree completely.

If we get the opportunity to trade Millsap and draft Faried at #12 to split time with Favors at the 4 that would be ideal.

If we can't make a trade than Faried's going to be a solid bench player on some other team.

I know some people will argue Faried's a reach at #12, but if we want to take the BPA than Faried should be heavily considered.

Watch the sprints again. He was huffing, out of breath, the whole drill. He blew them away on the last sprint, but he was hurting on the first 2-3 sets. Go head, watch it again.

If he could develop even a fraction of Millsap's offensive game it would be worth it. He is bigger than Sap and a better athlete.

Sap's offensive game is nice, and he has improved this part of his game a little every year.
Sap was horrible at times on defense.
Which do we need more?
Sap's offense or this kid's defense and rebounds?

I think Big Al's offense, and Faried's defense works better than Al + Sap.

Any thoughts on Big Al's offense + Faried's "offense"?

Seems like Faried's game is all dunks, and lay ups.
Same with adding Bismack. No real offense there either, but tons of
boards, and probably better defense than Sap.

Wouldn't Faried give us better balance when paired with Big Al or Memo?

You're assuming that Millsap can't or won't defend/rebound instead of that he didn't excel last year for any number of reasons. I think him coming off the bench and playing him fewer minutes will do wonders for his energy level and health, which I think would subsequently make his game more productive in the minutes he does play. But beyond that, there is more to the game than these nebulous ideas of OFFENSE and DEFENSE. Big Al can hit some shots from 15 feet, but that's really not a staple of his game, and passing damn well isn't. What is Faried doing to aid Jefferson OR benefit from him? It's a nightmare pairing; a big that can't pass and takes up a ton of space paired with a SMALLER big that can't do anything but clean up. Jefferson will find himself swarmed and not have any way out and Faried will... well... run back in transition and try to prevent a turnover from being a bucket.

And Faried might be okay with Memo since he spaces the floor AND can pass. I don't see Memo as a significant part of this team's future though, and I hope no one else does either. But Millsap and Memo have traditionally played and complemented each other quite well.

In conclusion, if Millsap is gone, there are worse things than Faried. But if I have to choose between one guy, and another guy emulating that guy, I choose the guy being emulated. Especially since we KNOW one is really productive and the closest thing this team has to the heart of the team and the longest-tenured (while still being decently young and has very clearly been improving every single year).

fair enough. thanks for the reply.

I don't understand the love for Faried. I don't see him as athletic, he looks stiff to me.

too stiff? :p

20 & 12 with 2 blocks tonight. I think he could actually become better than Millsap, kid's got a bright future.

I have yet to watch any of his game, but how is he scoring like he is scoring? I thought he was suppose to be offensively challenged?

he's having an impressive run. It would've been great if the Jazz woulda picked up an additional first in order to get him. Having him on the roster right now would make trading jefferson or millsap pretty easy.

Because having Kanter, Favors, and to some extent, Evans isn't enough? We could have Dwight Howard, Olajuwan, Ming, and Walton on the team and Greggy/KOC would find a way to keep Jefferson and Millsap. (and Chucker, Gods damn him)

So you wish we could have picked up an extra first to take a less good version of millsap to replace millsap with?

I'm guessing it has to do with Denvers high uptempo style of offense, it suits his game. I haven't seen him play but he's probably a lot like Millsap as a rookie raw offensively with a high motor, getting putbacks fast breaks and such, I assume.

for the sake of jazzfanz, I hope your other 45 posts contained conclusions equally awesome to this.

Is that not exactly what you were inferring? Farried is worse than Millsap, but you wish we could have gotten him so we could get rid of Millsap easier? Thats what I am gathering.
