It's better to lose on the road to an RPI top 100 then winning at home against an RPI sub 300. Precedent is set that a 20-12 team with better SOS is getting in the NCAA over 24-8 team with a terrible SOS. Committee is looking at road games a lot more and ignoring home wins.
I understand, but that's not where Utah's program is at right now. We are just trying to gain traction in out of conference as we head into a tough Pac 12 schedule, not impress the committee. In 2 years we will be back to worrying about RPI as we compete for an at large bid.
This is true.
However, EVERY team schedules a mix of cupcakes, mids, and quality.
What incentive does a rival have to schedule a flaundering team as a mid when it could be another team that doesn't compete for fans/recruits or w/e?
Also, this.
