I'm The biggest Sloan homer ever

Thee Jazz Fan

Well-Known Member
I've watched the jazz ever since 1987, and watching the jazz run the offense set monster picks running the pick & roll was like eye candy! I can't help but wonder if Sloan has lost the ability to relate to his players, they don't run the offense set good picks, and they run the worst pick & roll I've ever seen!

I'm not saying get rid of Sloan we need players that care! I've never been one to be rash and say break up the team, but over the last few games some of these thoughts have crept in to my head. I'm not good at making up good trades, and most trades I read about on this board have the other teams getting screwed over and don't seem realistic. What does everyone we could get for Milsap and Ak. If Greg Miller really wants to win now is the time to prove it by making a trade or two.

Who should the jazz trade for, who should the jazz trade. I think the Jazz should trade Milsap for a sg and ak and Fes for someone like Tyson Chandler or DeAndre Jordan if it's possible.

As for Sloan I hope I die before he retires

I've been a huge Sloan fan, but I hope he leaves before Deron does. One of them will not be on the Jazz to start the 2012 season and I hope it's Sloan that is missing.

Right now the Jazz are looking awful and Big Al is not playing well in the system. I recall one play when Raja broke free and was open under the basket and instead of passing the ball to him, Big Al took the outside shot. Fortunately he made it. That kind of selfish play ruins chemistry and is probably one of the reasons the Jazz are sucking so bad right now.

I'm ****ing embarrassed. Someone please ask palindrome to pit a crosshIr on Sloan.

Sloan is way too full of himself.

He brags about how he'll be here forever, and the players will be gone before him. He has no threat of being fired, and he knows it.
That also shows just how arrogant he really is. He doesn't have any pressure on him, and so he doesn't change. He makes people change to his liking.

He also doesn't take enough responsibilty for losses. He usually blames the players.
It's not his job to motivate the players or communicate to players? Sigh....

It's a lot easier to replace the coach then all 12 players to try and fit his ridgid old school system.
It's time to move on.

What? I've heard Coach Sloan countless times say that he's to blame, that he needs to do a better job. I think you think you are hearing and seeing what you want to. While everybody from the front office to the players has some blame in this skid, there is nothing wrong with Coach Sloan's system and methodology IMO. When executed properly, his system is a thing of beauty. Where he does share some of the blame is getting the players to actually execute. But in the long run, he cannot run the plays for them. He cannot defend for them. Ultimately, the players are responsible for their ****** play. And if the players are incapable of doing this, then it is on the front office for signing the wrong players.

His system has never won a title. So yes it is flawed, unless you think being really good is the ultimate goal. The facts speak for themselves.
0 titles. 0 COY
The facts also show us his system is the model of consistency. He can plug almost any talent level in there, and if they buy into the system they can be good.
Never great, but a solid playoff team. If that is your goal for the team then sit back and enjoy the ride. Well, the ride might be bumpy for awhile because
obviously this line up is not a good fit for Sloan's system right now.

My biggest concern though is for Sloan's arrogance. His comments about this is his team, and he will outlast any player show that he is full of himself, feels no pressure from the FO, and uses that the "put the players in their place". He knows he's got the reins, and
he's been rubbing it players faces for years. You are ok with that? Fine. I am not. How can you expect your players to give their all to your system when
you are so unwilling to change yourself, and act like you are untouchable, and above any repercussion.

You want to put the blame on the players, and FO and keep Sloan... fine man. I think the time is now to go in a new direction. It's easier imo to change the coach then the players. What is going to turn this thing around the fastest? Replacing the roster, or getting some fresh blood in?

Sloan will be a hero, and have his number retired. deservedly so too. It doesn't mean that a new look can't help this team right now too.

Haha! Wrong.

If anything he's been humble and stated many times he feels blessed to have kept his job for so long, and the have a PG like Deron. Get your facts straight.

That's your opinion BabyPeterzz. In no way a fact though. Neither is my opinion about Sloan's demeanor.

I could say get your facts straight, Sloan is a ego maniac. Nice try though.

No. You are stating your opinion. The fact is Sloan has never said anything ego maniacal. He's been nothing but humble. You see what you want to see. I've met the guy, you're wrong.

If you want to talk about his mistakes, which he's owned up to on multiple occasions, or his short comings that's fine. I have my own issues with his coaching. But spouting off baseless crap like this is worthless.

Nice Jr. High comeback, You've met the guy? So you are now stating facts?
So have I. I've been to a practice have you? I've had a conversation with him before an after games. Should I start stating "facts" now?

You've stated your opinion. Once again, in no way is that a fact.

Whatever, bro.

Whatever, bro.

What don't you understand about what an opinion means.
You disagree with me. Why not leave it at that or try to debate it like an adult?
I'm not trying to say your opinion is garbage or completely off base like you are with me.
I repsect what you are saying if you return it.

It's fine if you love Sloan, want him here, and think he has zero ego. That's great bro.

on a different note...

When the national media talks about Jerry Sloan they usually say the same things. Jerry Sloan is a tough minded coach that gets the most out of his players, and
preaches tough play. While I agree with his own toughness as a player, he has got a lot of out average teams in the past, and our teams in the 90's were tough... I ask you all this.

Is Sloan getting the most out of his players this year?

When was the last time the Jazz had what you'd call a "tough" team?

Fair enough.
