In depth article on Burks and Kanter extensions

No question Olynyk would fit in well. I think that would be a good trade deadline deal IF Kanter doesn't show that he can shoot the long ball and improvement in his passing under Snyder. Olynyk is a year older (I think), I wouldn't pull the trigger on that trade just yet.

I agree that the trade could be worked in with a Rondo deal pretty easily.

We'd likely have to take Gerald Wallace's contract, which they would be looking to move in a Rondo deal. I am 85% certain Kanter can't shoot the three effectively... he has moved the ball better though which was my biggest pet peeve with him last year. Kanter's shooting numbers show him to be pretty mediocre... I am not sure why many believe he is a good shooter who can extend his range. I'd love to see it though.

I think the Celtics might even be able to convince themselves that Kanter is a good fit for them. They'll have a hard time competing physically with Olynyk and Sullinger. While Kanter isn't a rim protector either, he at least adds a lot more strength and space-eating. Sullinger can step outside, so that's not an issue. And, with Bradley, Smart, and Green on the perimeter, Kanter's defensive inabilities (which aren't much worse than Olynyk's, right?) will be reasonably covered.

Put Kanter down there and follow what Charlotte did with Jefferson.

Probably true about Wallace, in which case I don't think it would be worth it. Especially if we are a decent team.

Kanter shoots from 16ft to 3pt line at about 37%. The hope is that he can just take a step back behind the arc and keep that percentage.

I agree, Kanter can create for himself a little better than Olynyk, too.

Danny Ainge is known for asking for a ton in trades... we'd likely have to overpay.

I think we will need to give Kanter a full year in the stretch role before we judge. 37% is really mediocre and generally guys shoot worse the further they move back (not always though). He needs to show he can shoot 35% from 3 to effectively stretch the floor. I don't think he's a horrible player... just don't think he's a good starter. If we could get him to buy into a 3rd big role I think he could be pretty effective. That job doesn't pay what he wants though.

My guess... he plays the season out for us. No one offers him big money... he accepts the QO and we do this dance again next year.

Gawd, Wallace's contract is terrible.

The good news is Brooklyn only had to give up Damian Lillard and like 10 first round picks to overpay and offload him.

Sounds like the board has gone all Kwame on Kanty

I'm not that big on Oylnyk but there is no way in hell Boston trades him for Kanter - even if Jazz took on salary.

If there is a trade, prepare to be underwhelmed (look at what The T-Wolves got for Derrick Williams)

Sad but probably true... I do think Kanter has shown more than Williams though. At very worst I think he's a very good 3rd big, but getting a 22 yr old to realize that won't happen.

It was a very good article. If the author is one of our board members, he should come forward so we can all rep him accordingly.

Gobert's emergence has made Kanter expendable. I just don't see the Jazz investing $40M+ in 3 bigs. If Rudy continues to develop like he already has, he'll get a max deal, or pretty close to one. I do think there is very little incentive for getting a deal done right now for Enes. The QO is too close to what the Jazz might be willing to pay Kanter right now. As already mentioned, Enes could be better off just playing for the QO next season, especially if it looks like he's developing a 3 and playing a little better on defense. He then hits the market as an UFA.

I'm hopeful the Jazz work out a deal with Burks, but not holding my breath. If he has a breakout season, he'll get a lot of interest. And he's likely counting on getting a big deal. If I were Alec's agent, I'd tell him to wait.

Let's see if he can shoot the 3 ball, pass and play a little bit of defense before we extend him. I think the shooting will come and passing seems to have improved(too early, though) but that defense is trouble even with Gobert or Favors besides him. If he could come close to league average at PF, I would love the 3 man rotation of Kanter, Favors, Gobert. That would be a dynamic big men rotation that can run and spread the floor.

For me, The Booker signing was a guarantee in case Kanter fails to improve. I don't know if a trade is in order now that Jazz failed to come to an agreement with Kanter but if it is, please, get a 3&D player.

Is this Wes Matthews' contracts last year? Can we somehow get him in FA?

Anything the Jazz would want from the Lakers? They pretty much have no depth on that team and Randle just got hurt. Maybe Kanter for garbage and future draft picks? Lakers should be bad for awhile so those picks could be valuable.

That cupboard is bare... unless they are willing to move Randle. They can't trade their own pick until 2019. They have Houston's pick this year though (lotto protected). If that is the return... think I'd rather take an extensive look at Kanter this year.

Didn't Toronto draft the guy the Jazz passed on for Enes?

I really hope burks gets his extension. He's a real wild card on offense and he played pretty good d on harden. I wouldn't be surprised if he waited though. A lot of money could be waiting for him
