J.J. Redick's abortion contract

What's the matter. If there's serious trouble between the 2 and he doesn't think she'd be a good mother for the Jr. it's prolly a good move. For everyone. She's paid $25k for it, which is a little bit low if you ask me, but I neither fk'd her, nor negotiated. So chances are she prolly had another sexual encounter if she's willing to sell that low. Plus JJ denies it's his. $25k to avoid a media witch hunt for a kid that may or may not be yours is good value.

That's one way to read it. The super creepy part was that her "compensation" was either a one year relationship with him if he could stand to be around her or $25,000 if it was worth that much to him to get away from her. At the conclusion of the contract any further contact would be considered stalking. For that she gave him an abortion of what he himself claims was another man's baby.

Rich people and lawyers don't think or act like what is typically perceived as 'normal'. Sports agents are usually both.

I'm sure if this took more than 6 years to come to a head, that it is happening all around the league. Nobody wants to go Holyfield broke after they done washed themselves up 10 years into the league!

Of course it sounds creepy. But if you were Redick, would you want her to run around and allege that the kid is yours and you blackmailed her to abort the pregnancy? I think the endorsement money he could lose is way more than just $25k. Think about how close to 50% of America's attitude is towards abortion. Even in rape cases some want to deny woman the right to abort. He'd get totally get "Humphries'd" by the media. And in the meantime he has to wait the birth and DNA tests until he can be sure it's either his or isn't. If it's his kid the money he has to pay as child support is even way higher. And that woman sounds very crazy to me. I definately would feel sorry for my son/daughter to be raised by her. She'd pump her mother's milk for sure at age of like 3 months, give the kid to a nanny for extended periods of time to go out shopping, drinking and whoring for other NBA players. I'd be spending lots of money for child custody...And even then Redick's schedule would require his parent(s) to move to his town to take care for the kid when he's out for work.
If I had his amount of money, and she'd include that stupid dating rule in the contract I'd definately do it. I mean I'd just wait until the abortion is confirmed and carry a suitcase with the money in cash with me and give it to her as soon as I could. I mean the article says ex-GF. Guess it didn't work out(what a surprise).

I'll say it again. The creepy part is including a term limited relationship that he clearly wasn't interested in and the fact that his end of the bargain was getting the woman to abort another man's baby.

If you're cool with that because "business is business" that's fine. I don't see anything illegal in what was done and I can certainly see his perspective on what he stood to lose but that doesn't mean I don't find it absolutely disgusting.

I can definately see your point, but that incident starts earlier. With his bad choice to date this woman, the woman's possible choice to see another man at the time they were in a relationship. I mean there's nothing definite that she cheated on him, just his claim not to be the father...paternity tests during pregnancy are forbidden in Germany for example, don't know about the USA. I agree that's a lot of pressure that's applied on that woman, but I the way I see it she's very responsible to let a situation escalate like that.
If I were Reddick I would have rather tried to negotiate for terms that say, he's not responsible for the custody of the child, no matter what she decides to do with it and connected that with a payment that forbids her to talk to others and the media about their relationship and pregnancy. This would preserve his public reputation and at the same time prevents her from collecting money from Redick.
Then the responsibility would be all with her. Plus this situation doesn't prevent him to financially support(for example by letting thirds send money) the kid if he looks like him clearly as an visual confirmation of his paternity.
The choice of words in that agreement is very harsh and all indication of what kind of whore that woman is leads me to the conclusion that she'd pursue the case/blackmail him further if there wasn't reasonable doubt about his paternity. I'd be way more intersted to see what the "more likely" father has to say to the topic.

I've long felt men should have the same options as women and be able to get a "legal abortion" of their paternal responsibilities withing 90 days of being informed that they might be the father. As it stands the women have all the options and the biological father is completely at the mercy of the mother's decision. It's unfair and completely out of whack.

Still. The contract is bizarre and you continue to not hear what I'm saying. I see the benefit for him. I understand his motivation. That's not the issue.

I think I get what u mean. You find it weird to make that written "2nd chance" post abortion agreement, which contained a loophole(buy-out). Plus his aggressive move to surveil that abortion while he denies he's the father.
Am I right? I just went on to talk about completely different topics in my posts. Simply my perception of the situation. I'm not denying your perception in any way. At least that's not my intention.
The 2 things I find weird about the whole process is that the woman agrees to the demands and that her (potential) other lover isn't saying anything after that document leaks. Apparently all 2 or 3 involved persons aren't very eager to raise a kid at this point of their life. Which I can understand. I wouldn't wanna be their kid either. So maybe they aren't that stupid if they had that thought as well ;)

Agree with this, by the way. Have seen it twice in my life, once a one night stand and one a high school fling. Both ended up pregnant, and the guy didn't want the baby, but the girl elected to keep it and stuck him with child support for 18 years.

Of course, I think responsibility should start before the act, and take precautions or don't engage in the act that makes babies if you don't want babies. But I'm just weird like that, taking responsibility in my life and all. I haven't even sued anyone yet, can you believe that?

That's a lot like complaining the coffee isn't hot enough, then complaining that the hot coffee burned you when you held it very carelessly between you legs like a moron and then...oh wait, that isn't rhetorical. Sometimes

I thought abortion was supposed to be used for when folks get raped or health was at risk?

I mean, that's always the argument I'm hearing. Now it seems like folks get abortions depending on what mood they're in.

Contract was a joke. And good luck trying to enforce it. Ironically, this all would probably had been a path to notoriety for this chick if she did get pregnant - and under the guise of protecting her unborn baby, went public with this contract; which I'm sure she'd claim she signed under duress.

Too bad - Fox News would have had a field day with this one.
