New Orleans has no need for a PF and no one in the league has a need for two over-the-hill guards.

In order for this to work Chris Paul would have to agree to sign a long term contract extention with the celtics, something he's apparently not willing to do, so this deal won't happen unless that were to change, although with a GM like Danny Ainge, it seems likely that with the way he operates he'll try to trade Rondo for something else this season, who knows why, honestly he's a perfect fit for the Jazz, with all the talent they have developing, a pure point guard. But hopefully he stays a celtic

The reason Ainge will try to trade Rondo is simple. The Celts are older than dirt and they don't need to spend $40MM on Rondo .. they'd rather have that money to start rebuilding the 'next' team. FWIW, I love Rondo .. and even though most around here don't like him .. he would be a GREAT fit.

Ask yourself why a contender (or something close to it) and franchise that is almost always on the good side of a fleecing would be desperately trying to trade one of its marquee players. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know, I don't know what will.

Evidence? Shopping someone around to test the waters in terms of value is hardly a desperate move. Are we desperate to move Millsap? It also make sense to me as I see Rondo as a solid piece of a playoff squad, but necessarily a cornerstone. The Celtics are the Big 3 + Rondo, not the Big 4, after all. He has high value and the Celtics may be trying to capitalize on that before the declining play of the team as a whole devalues him (and others).

I always thought Rondo was a pretty efficient player. He plays to his strengths, minimizes his weaknesses, is a pass-first point-guard (which on our team would excel with the likes of Burks/Favors/Hayward to feed) and plays solid defense at the PG spot. He is pretty savvy and makes good decisions. He would be a solid upgrade over Harris at the PG spot, for the right deal, imo.

agree with pkm. rondo is more introverted than your typical NBA star and as a result internalizes more than some people are used to. rivers has had to coach him differently to remind him that he needs to be an emotional leader, too... but that's different from an attitude problem.

and what's the deal with "he probably got it from KG"? since when does KG have an attitude problem? he is an explosive emotional force on the floor, he gets down on all fours and barks at opponents, etc... but since when is he considered a bad influence in the locker room?! he brought a whole different team mentality to boston that is the reason they one the title and he constantly preaches togetherness. i'm totally bewildered here at why KG is regarded as having a bad 'tude.

Celtics have 40mil coming off the books after this season.

They can easily keep Rondo and rebuild - if they thought he was worth it.

Agreed - I hate Garnett but I'd love him instantly if he came to Utah.

I think some folks get caught up in his antics and have trouble making that distinction.

At least they're not trying to outright dump him. Approaching a small handful of teams gauging his value over two years certainly doesn't reflect that they value him or desire to keep him.

These rumors, even if two different ones in one day, are not the first. This goes back to at least last season, and even in their waiting forever to extend him.

Proof that this poster knows a bit more about basketball than we think. I feel like he's reverted to trolling as a result of us jumping on his knock when he asked who's better out of favors and mills. Him being a celtics fan, it does strike me as THAT bad of a question. If just traded jon millsap for chris paul we would have to offer cash in return most teams don't want millsaps for millsaps did i mention millsaps? its all about money and putting fans in the stands and were not gonna get this done with a lack of clarinets, if we want to be a successful jazz band together the utah jazz are gonna have to shop john moses millsaps for a better clarinet player, theres just too many saxophones and not enough clarinet.
