I have always criticized the Jazz because we have been in re-build mode for 11 years now. But with the recent changes in staff and attitude I believe that the Jazz may be finally getting serious about a short term goal for building that championship contending team that everyone wants. I think the start of it was when the Jazz announced that the Mailman was going to be helping the big men in their development at power forward. If you remember back to when Coach Sloan retired, Karl wanted to come in and contribute and Greg Miller wouldn't have it. I feel this is a huge step bringing on the best Power Forward to ever play and shows me that G Miller can admit to his mistakes and look past them.
The second was bringing back Coach Sloan as a consultant to oversee the general management and the coaching staff. This was another great smart move by us. I can't find the online article but it was stating that Sloan would be helping out with the decision on draft picks and trades as well as contributing to the coaching staff with ideas and solutions. As you can see from the current draft it looks like Sloan is already hard at work. I know that Lyndsey is the guy that speaks on behalf of the decisions made, but i believe it is Sloan that is the mastermind behind the Jazz operations. What do yall think?

Jazz had a stretch where they won 50 games 3 out 4 years and won a bunch of playoff games and made it to the Western Conference Finals (with some luck). I wouldn't call that all of the last 11 years "re-building"

I think Lindsey is more than the guy that speaks on behalf of the decisions. He is the guy that makes the decisions and therefore has a right to announce them. Sloan definitely gives his opinion which is why he was brought in. But if you think Sloan has as much power as he used to you are mistaken.

I know we neg rep you for some bad pots, but this was pretty positive. I'll have to give you pos rep when I can. I disagree a little with your assumptions. KOC and the Millers opened their wallets after John and Karl left, going after some significant FA's and eventually landing young, promising bigs in Boozer and Memo; then drafting Deron and giving him his first MAX extension. And matching the offer for Millsap. No way of knowing at the time that Boozer would be soft and injured most of the time. And Memo, of course, was fantastic in terms of offense, but offered little defensively. We had a good playoff run, but simply were no match for the Spurs or Lakers. I do like the recent additions of Karl and Jerry. But I give less credit to Sloan for good drafting. After all, he was here during the late 80's and 90's when a good number of our selections were absolutely horrible. I give a lot of credit to KOC. He rebuilt the team after Stockton/Malone and Utah went to the WC Finals. He took a chance with Big AL in an attempt to keep Deron. And then he made a bold trade when he had to. And now contracts are fully unwound, with the exception of Marvin's expiring, and the Jazz are in great fiscal shape with a group of young, talented players. So a big THANKS to all in the Jazz organization, from the scouts, to the Jerry and Ty, to the KOC and Lindsey and even to Greg Miller.
