Utah has agreed to a partially guaranteed three-year deal with undrafted Northeastern forward Quincy Ford, sources tell The Vertical.

Well the feeling around the last 2 picks were that we weren't really going to keep both of them.
Really? Seems to me that they sign guys to contracts like this every year. Most of them don't end up making the team, though some of them end up under contract with the D-league. I'll bet this contract and also the ones signed with the 2nd round picks are set up similarly.

Bingo.

Training camp, helping Exum and Burks, SLs, D League.

This is why we have so many players come on visits. Ford was one of the players that worked out for the Jazz. They must have liked what they saw in him.

I was under the impression that if we send a player to the DLeague, that still counts against our 15.

Yeah but there is a date when it has to be 15, you can have as many as you want til then.

This is why the league needs a full dleague so that you can sign 26 players. If every team was forced to spend 5 mil every year on their dleague teams. Players salaries would be comparable to what a lot of these guys get over seas.

Expand the draft to 4 rounds an there you guy. Dleague teams become more fun to follow because it is your farm team. Big name players can play there to get their strength back for a few games before they have to hit the floor in the nba.

It actually would be pretty simple.

Agreed on this, they should just go full baseball with the minor league system, except only have a single minor league

Could you imagine the trades if say bolomboy explodes in the dleague and say the jazz need another wing they could package bolomboy for a wing another team wanted to move.

Jazz hold the rights to the guys they drafted and can wait and see how to handle them. Quincy Ford has a deal, so they're ready to make a commitment of some kind to him. Getting a deal is better than just getting drafted, and the Jazz can control 3 players with only 2picks. If they drafted Ford, they'd have to make an offer to one of the other guards, and maybe they didn't want to make that commitment.
