*** Jazz need Jeff Van Gundy for coach***

If we were to replace Corbin for coach I think Jeff Van Gundy would be a great match. First of all he likes the Jazz and he's trying to get back into a head coaching spot. He had great leadership and IQ for the game. (For those that remember his style) what do yall think about him leading the Jazz?. I'm thinking a definate yes.

Many Jazz fans overrate the Van Gundy as coaches. I would rather have Stan too. Jeff wouldn't even consider Utah because he spent years bashing the Jazz style.

So because the Jazz had a style under Sloan and Corbin, Van Gundy wouldn't consider coaching here? That makes no sense.

You want to know what I think! I'll tell you what I think!!! You wasted your time with this stupid thread! What the hell is this with everyone thinking the Van Gundy's would be good for the jazz??

Stan is a drama queen, and a whiny little bitch, and Jeff hasn't coached in over 15-20 years!

JVG has been very average as a HC. Had one good year in NY and then farrrrrtttttt. There is a reason he isn't coaching right now.

You complain about Corbin's offense when Van Gundy's in Houston was two plays:

Dump it to Yao.
Iso McGrady.

That's it.

Have fun.

But yet he (with the help of Thibs) taught great team defense. Teaching one part of basketball as JVG would do is better than teaching none as Tywrong Corbitch does.

Yea, I could have done a better job of explaining what I meant. There is no way the Jazz would want JVG as a coach of the Jazz due to his many years of bashing the Jazz style of play.

Someone correct me if Im wrong, but wasn't Dennis Lindsey a part of the Houston execs who fired JVG? Wiki sucks on Lindsey info...

He's 430-318 for his career with one NBA Finals appearance and winning seasons in 10 of his 11 years as a HC.

So Jeff Van Gundy had a total winning percentage of .575 with one finals appearance. Jerry Sloan had a winning percentage of . 605 with 2 finals appearances. But Jerry had John Stockton and Karl Malone, and Jerry is known as one of the greatest coaches of all time and coached twice as long as Jeff Van Gundy. If Van Gundy was given ten more years to coach (like Jerry had) his numbers could easily match that of Jerrys.

Had A lineup of Patrick Ewing, Marcus Camby, Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell, Kurt Thomas, Larry Johnson and Charlie Ward ... Thats not a bad team and it was the strike shortened season that they made it to the finals.

The Rockets had Mcgrady and Yap Ming .... a pretty solid core ... Couldn't get them out of the first round of the playoffs and didnt make it one year .... Sounds like a Championship builder

Just because he makes everything sound so simple, pointing out the obvious on ESPN, doesn't mean hes a great coach.

Name two better available (not Phil Jackson) coaches out there.

I always thought JVG was a good coach. I'm not on the fire Corbin bandwagon like most of you folks, but, if JVG came in I wouldn't mind.

I wouldn't be pissed if he came in, mainly because I think he is a funny guy, but I wouldn't be overly excited about it either. There is probably a reason he hasnt coached in like 6-7 years.

....his brother, Stan is much funnier, smarter and more successful. If Stan's not coaching by next year......he's probably through with these hip hop knuckleheads and has enough money to last him for awhile!
