What's new

JJ Redick and Brandon Bass

BTW- the deal won't work, salaries don't match.

I don't buy that the jazz have too many bigs. Last year Jazz had Big Al, Milsap, Elson, Fes, AK, Favors & Memo (for a while) who could play the 4 or 5. They lose Elson, Fes, and Ak but add Kanter. They still need a couple of bigs to fill the roster to bank against injuries or foul trouble.

The only problem with the Jazz bigs is that there is some uncertainty of roles, but competiton, development and injuries will take of that.

You are getting two players for one. Of course the one player getting traded would be considered the best of the three.

Jazz aren't getting an all-star with a Millsap trade. Sorry to break the news.
Which is why - considering that Millsap contributes to winning like an all-star - the Jazz shouldn't be in a hurry to dump him for scraps.

Why is everyone so set on moving Jefferson. I think he is set to have a great year. I can understand why Milsap can be moved because we all know that is favors spot and he is part of the future of this team plus could clear up some cap space but Jefferson is a quality big right now while the rookie develops. And this is a question because I have to be missing something. Thanks guys.

Those are the two players the Jazz should target if they end up moving Millsap or Jefferson. Redick gives them a reliable shooter and Bass is a quality big. Plus both are still young and can grow with the team.

We shouldve trade Loozer for these 2 rotation guys.... #pass

You deem your opposition as "everyone" because they are your opposition. Maybe the way I view the situation is the same as yours, but I'm pretty sure most people see Millsap as the odd man out and Jefferson just needs one more chance because he hasn't already had 5.

If you haven't been paying attention why some are not into Jefferson, he hasn't shown an ability to play team basketball (either helping others, or knowing how to use the help from others) and generally has poor fundamentals. He has a lot of fancy post moves but that hasn't actually translated to efficient basketball as he doesn't get to the line and he can't seem to have a season where he shoots >%50 from the field on top of that. That's a huge deal as a big, and especially for one that only knows how to be the focal point of an offense. He also does nothing in transition on both sides of the ball.

There's also the cap argument (which you've made). Jefferson makes almost 50% more than anyone else on the team (and nearly twice that of Millsap) and is guaranteed the most on the team as well (also by a wide margin). The Jazz aren't in financial trouble, but if you're looking to clear space, Jefferson is the clear choice.

No to both, IMO.

Riddick - already a log jam at SG/SF with Burks, Miles, Hayward, Millsap..
Bass - have to say no to another undersize PF.. also why have another player take time away from Favors and Kanter??

Having too many bigs isn't a bad thing. Just ask Memphis, LA, and Dallas.

If some of you were in charge of the Mavs then you probably would have traded Tyson Chandler or Haywood for JJ reddick. Wonder if Dallas would have still won if they didn't have their bigs?

I'm not a huge fan of Jefferson. And I'd love to trade him for some real value. But I don't think the Jazz should trade away their size just... Because we can.... At the very least, we finally have a frontline that can bang with the Lakers. I got so tired of watching all of our guys, especially that punkass screamer, yelling AHHH AND 1 as he got stuffed for the 10th time against Gasol.
