Not sure if anyone on here cares, but Joan Rivers passed away at the age of 81.

Here is a pretty good article about her life.

This part struck me as poignant.

"The trouble with me is, I make jokes too often," she told The Associated Press in 2013. "That's how I get through life. Life is SO difficult — everybody's been through something! But you laugh at it, it becomes smaller."

RIP.

I love Joan Rivers. In fact, I'm going to pass around a condolences card tomorrow for a co-worker who loves her even more. My note will say something about him not having anyone to beat off to anymore.

Very sad. I watched (on TV) a very recent stand up act she did and it was one of the funniest stand up routines I've ever seen. She's amazing. We all lost an incredible treasure.

Agreed. I watched her documentary from a few years back which showed snippets of her uncensored stand up act. I was surprised at how funny (and off-color) she was.

She was very funny and I agree with her standpoint that if we can find a way to laugh at things it gives them less power over us, both individually and as a society. She could be very off-color but a lot of her humor was spot on. She had a gift for finding the absurdities in society and brutally pointing them out.

She was awesome. She was someone who obviously had a harder time than most when it came to aging, and yet she even found a way to laugh at the absurdness of the whole situation and how she ended up looking. Fantastic personality and just a very cool person.
