Knicks Not Matching Lin's Offer from Rockets

Now I can't wait for Dolan to unilaterally change this decision at 11:58 PM Eastern. I'll look like a fool if that happens.

It may be early since the deadline is still 7 hours away, but it sounds like the Knicks aren't matching. I think they're out of their minds. Rather than think about the cost in the last year of the contract, they should be thinking about he Lin can make up for that in the first two years.
Lin had a great 2-month run. He was then ineffective when the coach was replaced and the Knicks ran a different offense. Lin at $15M in year 3 will be tradeable? Every major team will be dealing with cap/tax issues. Few teams will have that kind of space available. And the few that do will probably have many teams begging them to take players. The price is going to be VERY, VERY high.

This is a ridiculous contract. It's a stupid loophole in the CBA making the hit worse for NY than it is for Houston. But even at an average of $8M/per, Lin is not worth it.

He is tradeable. Especially to an owner that's interested in making money.

Houston wants him bad (Large asian market). I would also imagine that the Kings (for the same reason they drafted Jimmer $$$), Warriors, and Blazers would take him as well. If Lin=revenue growth then he is tradeable. Also, you pointed out that Lin struggled outside of D'Antoni's system... well I would argue that Lin has value in a run n gun system. I would match him, and trade him when allowed rather then let a valuable commodity disintegrate for nothing.

If you're a team looking for revenue and an identity. You could do much worse then Jeremy Lin.

Good for them and good for him. Next year Jeremy Lin has an opportunity to put a stamp on the Houston Rockets. I'm thinking they might become 'his' team.

However, imagine if he busts after 'linsanity'. ESPN would go nuts.

I don't know who else could be "the man" for the Rockets. They've either traded away, amnestied, or just let almost everyone go who had much of a positive impact on the team over the last few years.

MSG only owns a fraction of that stock. I would imagine it would be illegal for them to short it using options or swaps, but would not entirely rule it out either.
