Here on the local sports radio in Houston and from the reports from the Jazz camp everyone is focusing defense in Training Camp.

The Bulls are too.

So every one but the teams with several years of continuity. won't be polished offensively to start the year. Even the mostly intact teams will not be running at peak efficiency.

The early part of the season is going to be brutal to watch. Normally teams that focus on defensive want to run all the time. The compressed schedule is going to make that very difficult.

It will also place a premium on players that can score outside of an offensive set or in a very simply set. Dirk, Kobe, etc will be even more important.

For the Jazz I expect that we will see even more Millsap and Jefferson postups. Whether that is good thing or not will probably depend on that night's matchups.

Goodluck focusing on defense when you have Carlos Boozer as your starting PF...

lol!

I just wonder how many weeks it will take before he's placed on the trading block?

Taj Gibson looked a lot better than Cbooz last year.

I like that defense is the focus. Teach it to the rooks and sophs while they are young.

Remember last year everyone was freaking out that Miami only focused on D durring training camp and really didn't start looking at offense until later in the season. They struggled early in the season and still struggled on offense against Dallas in the Finals. I wonder if other teams, Jazz included, will see similar offensive struggles? Could make for some really ugly basketball for several weeks.

It will probably longer because the large number of game back-back limit practice time.

This is very true, and could give Burks more opportunities to showcase his skill set.
