Let's Shed a Tear

every GM was mad at Ainge for the 2 trade hauls and started only offering crap trying to see if Ainge would give a contender Bogie for scraps, we couldnt keep Bogie so we traded him to a team that wouldnt hurt us. and said FU to the contending teams lowballing us
That's when Ainge had to just start the season with Bogie and be patient. We don't have to play the players in a way that helps us win. I mean, play him for 3 quarters or put him out there with the wrong batch. That's me.

The way that trade went down just days before camp tells me they just wanted to clear the decks to be able to run Hardy's offensive system from Day 1 not to mention the cap savings which gives them more wiggle room under the luxury tax to make further deals by the deadline. In a vacuum Olynyk is a worse player but as a passing big man just fits the scheme better than Bog. I think they also wanted to start Markkannen from day 1 instead of any type of camp competition between him and Bog splitting minutes at the position. So far it's been alot of playmaking by the bigs and wings which should open up the floor for their catch and shoot guards (Conley, Beasley, Sexton, JC, Agbaji). It was a tiny sample in the scrimmage but Sexton and Butler were really the only 2 running any pick n roll and that was with Kessler on the 2nd unit.

My guess is if they miss out on Victor they will be drafting the best 6'-8" playmaker available in the next draft.

I noticed the Kings let Sam Merrill go yesterday. They owe him a $150,000 partial guarantee so he isn't in the Exhibit 10 pool for their GLeague team. He might be a good pickup for the Stars.
