Memo the clutch man

I understand all of that, but I still fail to see how he was 3 times the player Matt Bonner was. That's even more quizzical the assertion now.

But I agree, as a 4th big, you won't realistically find a better guy. IMO, that is his ideal role from now on.
Sure; the Jazz would be well-served to have Okur as a 4th big.

But not at $10 million per. Didn't have to be that way. If Okur couldn't be had for something closer to the MLE, then someone else could take his place for far less as the backup center.

Memo should just be like a secret weapon that you bring in for a quick three every once in a while
Yeah--kind of like a 6'11" Kyle Korver (salary: $5 million), perhaps with a premium of a million or two for height--and perhaps a discount of a million or two for age (and recent injury).

Right, individually Memo has a few very effective skills but as an individual player he's pretty limited. His immeasurable value to Utah has been his ability to make his teammates better. It wasn't just his shooting, it was the threat his shooting provided. He spaced the floor so Deron/Boozer could run screen-roll with out the defense collapsing, he created offensive rebounding lanes for players like Boozer, AK and Harpring by drawing a big out to the 3pt line, he gave Boozer more favorable matchups with slower centers, he allowed Ronnie Brewer to float along the baseline while he spaced the floor, he gave Deron that great trailer option on the break after Deron's initial penetration was cutoff. IMO Memo and Sam Perkins were the two best 3pt-shooting centers in the past 20 years.

I just don't think he has much of that left in the tank, but again, as a 4th big Utah could do alot worse.

Memo was also a pretty decent rebounder, getting around 8-9 or so a game in his prime, if I remember correctly. I also seem to remember that the year before we drafted D-Will, Memo was one of the league leaders in double-doubles.
