What's new

MKG signs 4yr/ 52 million dollar extension with Charlotte.

Wow. I didn't know they liked him that much. It's probably a little like us with Hayward where we weren't 100% sure at the time, but couldn't lose the asset. Obviously, I doubt he'll ever be as good as Hayward, but still might be on the verge of a break out of sorts.

I know he'll D up anyone, but yikes. SF's who cannot shoot a lick are a real liability in today's NBA. The guy's made three 3-pointers in his entire career.

Plus, it's MJ. So I'm immediately skeptical.

For the sake of my fantasy team, hopefully him and Batum work well offensively as a wing rotation. Defensively they'll be spectacular, but Im worried about the spacing.

Look at where the salary cap is going.
It's s mistake to think that just because the salary cap is jumping you should sign anybody and everybody. It's still a good chunk of the cap. It could turn out to be a bad signing still. Not saying it will, but it could be. You wouldn't give Trey Burke that deal even with the cap going up would you?

But like I was saying. I didn't know they liked him enough to do that.

I wanna piggyback this by bringing up something I've heard no one mention. We know the cap is gonna jump a ton next summer once again and once again teams will be paying out the wazzu (how the **** do you spell that?) for players. But what happens in the summers thereafter if the cap moves just nominally northward...and the contracts signed over the previous two years escalate like they can for max deals...and those same teams have contracts come off the books and now only have 4-6 guys signed (all at big, big money) and are already at the LT...I'm looking at you Cleveland...what happens then? Those teams will be virtually ****ed. No?

This is something I would worry about as a GM...especially with the lockout rumors swirling.
