Modeling their game after

Twin Towers

Well-Known Member
After seeing tonight's win and just looking back over this year so far and the roles that seem to work for each player and what does not. Young guys are still figuring out what they can be consistent at and each players role seems to be changing. I think it's partly due to bad coaching and partly to finding themselves as players.
What players should they model their game after and who they should stop trying to be like? Current or retired players

My take
Trey Burke - More like Chris Paul in the sense of being patient on the pick and roll and shielding the defender.
Less Allen Iverson mindset where he gets a little trigger happy sometimes.

Alec Burks - More like Brandon Roy in his prime with slashing and the mid range game . More patience and the stutter step to catch them off guard rather than going full speed at the hoop.
Less JR smith style where he gets trigger happy.

Gordon Hayward - More Iggy. No not his athleticism but his role as a wing player. Balanced player that is a pass first, shoot 2nd. Which saves his energy as a man to man defended which he is above average at.
Less wanna be Kobe with his fadeaway shots and contested shots.

Enes Kanter - More like Karl Malone (late in career). Enes will never be as athletic as Karl was in the 80's but in the mid to late 90's Karl couldn't beat people with speed or jumping. It was all technique and positioning. Enes is taller and I think more of a bully. Lol with a soft touch. If he can learn that jab step more often and have Karl teach him how to get off shots easily without getting blocked in the paint. Karl was a MVP without much athleticism.
Enes needs to slim down as much as possible and work on his agility at P3 this summer. He plays better at PF. And long terms it's where his success has to come.
Less....I'm not sure someone exactly but Needs to work on footwork on defense and be more patient in the post. Let the defense make the move and pick your spots.

Favors - More of Duncan's style. Be more patient coming off the pick and roll and getting in position in the post. Better at shielding defender.
Use length to cover space the way Duncan does by positional D rather than going for big block.
Duncan's offense should be looked at also. Duncan has a line drive shot the way Favors does. Not tons of arc on the jumper. Work on bank shots and hook floaters.
Less Larry Sanders. Much more talented than him physically and with basketball skills but some nights doesn't look any better. Corbin needs to get him the ball more. Better positions to score also.

Diante Garrett- more Jason Kidd style. Patient point who is longer. Kidd started out as a bad jump shooter but became very efficient.
Improve the catch and shoot 3 and staying poise in the paint off the pick.
Less of a scorer. Set up teammates first than yours open shots will come.

Gobert - Marcus Camby style. Longer than him but Camby was getting pushed around when he was young sometimes like Gobert but eventually got stronger. Fill out that frame! Lol Needs to fix his jump shot. Has a slight push shot. Needs to fix that. Camby's shot is a little too far lol above the head but needs to go in that direction.
Strengthen his grip and needs to keep the ball high, gets stripped to much.

What's your take and who should they study film on and what part of their game should they learn from?

Wow! CP3? Iggy? Malone? Duncan???

This team is going to make the original Dream Team look like a bunch of pansies

Not a bad post, actually, despite what these buffoons are prattling on about. He's not saying that our players ARE those NBA guys, but rather, who they should model their game after. I disagree with God being compared to Iggy and Blowby, but other than that... Decent.

Ya they hear big names and think comparisons lol
And yell blasphemy towards our basketball lords lol

I don't see any of them becoming as good as any of the players to model their game after. Lol

EJ who do you think Hayward should model his game after?
I think Iggy's mindset on the court is what Hayward needs to do.
Humble himself and realize he is a role player not a super star. Do a little bit of everything. Not try to be a big scorer.

God doesn't need to model his game after anyone, if you ask me. He is what He is, so I've been told.

I model my game after JLIII. I'm a great vet to have around and ask questions from...I even know where to seek treatment for injuries. However, I can't shoot worth a &*^%.

I like the premise of the post, but man you sure do laugh out loud a lot while you post.

He's trying to get into the STD, where it's required to LOL like you're still in Jr. High and you're a girl.

And he will need to master the art of debauchery

Never forget the debauchery

Probably shouldn't post after drinking in Vegas "LOL"
Late night and The Lord comment is from being at the Knights of Templar show or whatever.

To be more like CP3 Trey needs to learn to pass, and shoot, and take care of the ball. He is working on the clutch shot thing, but wow is he a long way off of the rest.

Ugli is by far the best at this. Perhaps you can ask him for stone pointers?

He helped me. Rule #1 was cup the balls. That's as far as I got, but I think it's served as a solid foundation for my future.
