Nate McMillian - What would you do to have him as the coach next year?

Just fired by the Blazers.......

I know many are not content with giving Corbin at least one year in the offseason and a full training camp.

I for one have always been a McMillian fan so I would do this in a heartbeat.

Not a Corbin hater either but I think McMillian is one of the top 6 or 7 coaches in the league personally.

A lot of those things crossed my mind as well. Really, all of them. I don't love McMillan, though. I hate his half-court offense, and I hate that he just is not a coach that wants the ball pushed. If we could land McMillan and D'Antoni in some combination then awesome!

Give Gilloolly and Stant Ty's address?
Seriously, I can MAYBE understand Raja playing big minutes the last couple of games...a final attempt to show contenders he still has some skills left. But if Burks gets any more DNP's, I'll be mad as hell.

.516 coach over his 12 year career, lost in the first round 4 times, lost in the Conf Semi's once.

D'Antoni > McMillan. His grinding half court offense is like watching someone rot away with terminal cancer. I don't want to watch a bunch of games that end up in scores like 88-84, 92-86. The Blazers are not a fun team to watch despite having a pretty solid roster (prior to today).

In my opinion they are 2 completely breeds.

D'Ant = Offense and some Defense
McMillain = Defense and some Offense

To me, the top defensive teams win. Same goes for Football as well. You can be the high flying Detroit Lions but when you can't stop anyone you will get beat. You can light up the scoreboard like teh Packers but with no defense it will catch up to you.

McMillian improved every year in growing Seattle.
He also grew Portland every year until the past 2 years. To me that is on upper management on drafting the Oden.

He preaches defense and runs an offense. D'Ant says get up and down the court - have a PG to do it (Which we don't) and hope you don't get burned when you don't hit your 3's.

Exactly, he coached them to...what?.....nothing. Them having good players wasnt his doing. Them going no where with those players might be.

Like I said, those teams were constantly riddled with injuries. Oden constantly out, Roy constantly injured, add to that a mass of other injuries. His teams were rarely at 100%, even to start the seasons.

Had they drafted Durant and/or had Brandon Roy stayed healthy everyone would be in love with the guy. If anything he got his teams to overachieve. He is a solid coach.
