All it shows is that every team in the league has done something lately...except for Utah. Good info, though.
So most other teams are hiring/firing coaches, firing GMs and signing people to 10day contracts and that presumably is a good thing?
Cavs made a big mid-seasontrade this year
Dallas made a big mid season trade this year
Portland made a big mid season trade this year
NY Knicks and Houston make big trade this year
Houston and Sacto make big trade
San Antonio got Richard Jefferson this year
Chicago made significant trades this year
What did the top 4/5 do?
LA let Ariza go and signed Artest last off season
Boston traded Eddie House (and whatnot) for Nate Robinson (and whatnot)
Phoenix did nothing (i think)
Cavs (see above)
Orlando (Turkoglu out... whos in?)
The first group of trades were hearalded as "excellent moves" to get their teams to the next level. Did it work? I don't think a bunch of trading action means anything any more than a bunch of sawdust in the garage means i'm making furniture (I can't... but the sawdust piles up nicely with all that work) Just a lot of action appearing like my work is resulting in something good.
One could argue that NY and Chicago were clearing room and that is a good thing, a move in the right dirrection. Unfortunately if the Jazz had $60M in cap space that Lebron, Bosh, Wade would not be strategizing on how to get to Utah as a group.
There are trades that work. Boston used it to do a whole team transformation - good move on their part. LA got a gift, as we've all cried about. The Boston trade is the only transformative trade i can recall working in recent past. All the recent Shaq trades were net-negatives.
what are some of the 'big' trades that made a real net postive impact?
