More cross conference match ups in the playoffs = more fun = better ratings? Can someone explain what the actual problem with the current format is? The best team wins and that's bad?
It's more comfortable with more space and easier flight schedules, but it is tiring nonetheless. I've traveled many different ways and my experience has been that when you do a lot it wears on you. Also, while the team gets to travel by charter there are a lot of other people who have to go back and forth in coach. The bottom line is that the logistics of numerous cross-country playoff series are no where near as simple as you're making them out to be.

As a jazz fan it seems like for the next coupe seasons at least it gives us a much better chance of making the playoffs. Can someone explain what the actual problem with the current format is? The best team wins and that's bad?
I suggested it in another thread, but I think a good hybrid would be top 6 per conference play within the conference and then the bottom four playoff spots are open regardless of conference.
I think if you go back through the standings, you'd find the top 6 from each conference generally make it in no matter what. It's only the last two spots that might be affected.I think it needs to be simple enough a system to be workable... when it's too complicated casual fans get confused and give up trying to understand.
I was thinking the bottom four would pay each other.I think if you go back through the standings, you'd find the top 6 from each conference generally make it in no matter what. It's only the last two spots that might be affected.
It would definitely be a disadvantage to the 1st place teams in either the EC or WC (or both) who may have to travel cross-country for Rd 1 games, not to mention the extra expenses.

Are you proposing that lottery teams start playing one another? Very innovative.
