New Utah CC Law Passes The House

HB76 was changed to remove the provision that allowed a person to carry a loaded concealed weapon without a permit.

I appreciate this part. If you're going to carry around a loaded concealed weapon you should have to go to a class to get the permit.

Onr could argue that all you have to do is chamber a round. That takes about 2 seconds.

Closing a loophole law. Same idea.

OK, how does this "close" a loop hole law? Regardless of wehter this law passes or not I can still carry a "loaded" weapon openly.

I am mearly pointing out at what point do all these laws become silly and pointless?

Open carry a "loaded" weapon = no CC
Conceal carry a "non loaded" weapon = no CC
Conceal cary a "loaded" weapon = CC

How much difference is there really?

I'm kind of a wuss, so I never carry "loaded". I guess when this passes my CCW will be obsolete.

Great, now the mass shooter doesn't have to show their permit before they shoot up a mall or theater. Lame.

You folks do realize that one of the main pushers of this bill is a guy who proposed a bill a year or two ago legalizing the torture and beating of cats?

Curtis Oda, with the exceptions of Buttars, Wimmer, and Stephensen, might be the biggest dumbass in the entire state.

When even many senate repubs were worried about this bill passing in the house, you know you've got problems. Now it's either fight against your own party and the NRA lobbyists who have lined themselves up on the second floor (with a beautiful blond) everyday or go with the flow...

Oda's insanity made for great fodder for Colbert.

Feral animals of Utah — including cats — are squarely in the sights of the Utah House of Representatives.

Rep. Curtis Oda's bill that would allow people to shoot feral cats and other animals passed through the lower chamber 44-28 Friday — leaving it up to the Senate now to now the controversial measure.

The bill, HB210, was changed slightly before being passed. Rep. Kay McIff, R-Richfield, added safety provisions — including preventing those in unincorporated or rural areas targeting feral animals to shoot across roads or within 600 feet of buildings or residences and where hunting is already prohibited.

Oda accepted McIff's amendment and only offered a few words on the bill, despite the requisite meowing from several lawmakers.

"I think we've pretty well vetted everything," Oda said somewhat wearily. "It's a bill that's needed."
