What's new

Game Thread Nov 23, 2024 03:00PM MT: New York Knicks @ Utah Jazz

Added to Calendar: 11-23-24

It's not about Kessler, Sexton, Collins or Hardy: it's all about Lauri. When Lauri plays like he did in his All Star year (and like he did yesterday) we will win some games against good teams and quite a few against bad teams. Kessler, Sexton, Hardy etc. are just his supporting cast.

The Jazz were losing because Lauri played well below his usual level in his first games. If he keeps playing like yesterday the Jazz will climb out of the bottom-5 rather quickly. When Lauri scores 30 points or more the Jazz are 17-9 - and this is including the games when the Jazz tanked hard at the end of 22-23 and 23-24, leaving Lauri with very little help.

Agreed, just pointing out that it's not been Lauri's choice to play more iso (ineffectively), Hardy has told him to do that to make him learn to be more effective. Apparently in this game they gave him the possibility to play the way he really can.

Yeah. They can't do it all season, for both to preserve his confidence and trade value. They'll probably be back trying some more iso later on.

I agree for the most parts, but you are making it look like Hardy is twisting his arm. I dont think Lauri has had objections to expanding his game, and they have probably discussed what his preferred path would be. Lauri has very high respect for Hardy, and he has mentioned multiple times that Hardy is a major reason why he wants to stay in Utah.
