Now that Matthews is officially gone, what about Fes?

Read a rumor he is on the Trailblazers' radar screen. If we had kept Matthews, Fes could've easily been had by the rival Trailblazers with another offer we likely would not have matched.
With Wesley gone, will the Blazers still make a play for Fes?

Interesting rumor. If this is true and the Blazers will still offer Fes a ridiculous contract, they really must have some grudge with the Jazz and didn't learn anything from the WesMatthews .. er .. incident.

I hope the Blazers offer him 5 years 60million, and they choke on their own toxic contracts.

I don't see why the Blazers would want Fes but if they want to offer him a big contract then so be it. Let them have to eat that and in the process we get rid of a goof Marlboro Man.

The Blazers can only offer their bi-annual exception at this point. It is an interesting rumor - that the Blazers wanted us to vastly overpay for Matthews, making a match for Fes unlikely. That could be true. Portland does need some size inside. And they have a gazillion guards.

Can the Blazers even offer anything to Fes? Did they not just use all their MLE on Matthews?

I am not 100% sure on this but they may be able to use their bi-annual exception. Someone with a little more knowledge of the inner workings of the CBA might be able to shed some light on this.

Thanks for clarifying that even before I posted. You sir are amazing.

Um, because he already is a decent backup, even though he is extremely raw, but has upside, given that he has had fewer minutes in three years than lots of developing bigs get in one or two. Oh, and without Fes, we are resigned at backup 5 to a slow-footed Okur who is great for a clutch 3-point shot but little more.

Besides that, nothing.

Fes is a lazy Marlboro smoking Euro trash player who will never be anything more than a guy who comes in to hack other big men. No commitment to the game. Only to the dollar signs.

If this is so true why is he playing for his national team this summer, just trying to quailify for the European Championships in the future? Not saying he is the hardest working person in the world, but the guy still has a lot of upside.

Can you imagine Fes in Portland. That place has one of the best bar scenes in the U.S. There's a bar in almost every restaurant. Portland would be the end of Fes's career.

Potland is at 12 players and 67 or 68 million. With Aldridge, Camby, Pryzbilla, and Oden I can't imagine what they'd do with Fes. Maybe they really do just hate the Jazz.

Did anyone else catch the end of the KOC commments about Mathews yesterday, one of the sportswriters asked Fes, KOC said he was next. The writer followed up with what sounded like "what about the rumours that Portland is interested in Fes?" To which KOC replies jokingly -Yea, we'll see if Paul Allen has any more money.

I read that this morning and had to chuckle a bit. Because it's so obvious what the Blazers true intentions were with these contracts. Koc also said that the statement Matthews made about signing for less with the Jazz was untrue, "call his agent for yourself", he said.
