What's new

Omri Casspi Idea

So we offer him a rest of the year contract for $4.2M and say in order to get the dough you need to give us a team option on second year. We are $4.2M below the floor so its money we would have to spend anyway. It's $4M more than he'd get anywhere else pretty much. If we exercise the team option it's like he made 8.4M for one year. We get a look at him (we'd be very likely to pick up that option)and another cheap year to help us balance the roster next year.

We've been great with good shooting 4s... he can do that. Rest JJ and Favs a bit more and we'd have additional injury protection. Release Mack or Withey. We'd still have ample cap space to do draft day deals if needed.

Should have just claimed him or Bogut. Too bad Bogut broke his leg. I'd be perfectly fine with signing Casspi and waiving Mack or Withey. Plus, Jazz have the most international players on one team this year (7 - Gobert, Lyles, Bolomboy, Diaw, Jingles, Exum and Neto). They clearly have targeted guys who have that background to play their style of basketball. Use the cap space. Give Mack or Withey a chance to catch on with a team that might use them. Get up over the cap floor. Hopefully have him help out and contribute in the playoffs. With how bad their PFs have shot the ball. . . it might be nice to have a combo forward out there that defenses can't sag on.

I would rather have this guy.

With Favors out we should add casspi... take some of the load of JJ.

Lyles is mentally broken. Diaw is not the guy I want to play 25 minutes a night.

It's time to put some frosting on the cake.

We should have gotten PJ Tucker-- that was our major ****-up.

That too... was had for two bad second round picks.

With what is left and our current needs I like Casspi more than anyone else and it isn't close.

Considering what Tucker was had for and what the Jazz have way too much of (2nd round picks), it's definitely a head-scratcher.

Your arguments are sound for Casspi, as with most things.

Thank you good sir.

Marc Stein reporting clippers and Grizzlies interested in Casspi. We'd have a huge monetary advantage on those teams. He might get more playing time on those squads but with Favors out we have some minutes at the four. Would really like to keep JJ fresh for the playoffs. He wore down last year and playing big has to add some wear and tear.

Come on DL even if it's a one year deal at 3-4M he's free. Would give us a good look at fit. Don't let our competitors pick up a cheap depth piece.
