Not originally. I thought I was sneaking it into the Jazz forum but then Trey started scoring so I took advantage and made it relevant here.

No, it's about $1.5M in charity dollars. Probably $750K for the "Calipari Monument Erection" fund and $750 for the "Sweep Any NC Violations Under the Carpet" fund.
Calipari has raised more than $10M for charity while at UK. From sending money to Haiti, to the Dean Smith Fund, to the V-fund, and best of all, he gets the players to work. Each season begins with Cal taking his team to a poor nation, an orphanage, or something similar and the players wash the feet of the poor or parentless, put new socks and shoes on them, and spend the day putting smiles on the kids. He does a great job of teaching them humility and having to serve in order to lead.

It's symbolic, not a fetish. Imagine the days without shoes and socks and no sanitation systems. Walking around in sandals would leave your feet covered in dirt and fecal material. Can't imagine a much lower job than foot washer. So to those who believe in Christ, Jesus' washing of feet was seen as an amazing act of humbleness and servitude: the King of Kings, Son of God performing an act reserved for the very lowest caste.
