One more roster spot to fill??

I'm a n00bfactory when it comes to trades and exceptions and all that stuff. Also, I hate the fact that I'm posting a subject about trades and it's not even midsummer.

I was just thinking: we still have one roster spot we can fill and we have the trade exception still from Harpring, right? What kind of possibilities does that leave us? What happens then if we drop AK from the books with a trade?

I believe The Jazz are about 7 million into LT Land - I don't think they'll be making any roster additions.

No one really knows what really happens when AK comes off the books. With the lock-out looming and a new CBA which may include a hard cap, I wouldn't count on too much flexibility.

One spot? I don't follow you. Jazz have 13 on their roster. The minimum to carry is 13 and the max is 15. Last season when the Jazz were over the tax, they only carried 13.

Anyone that is added is just going to sit behind the bench each game. It will be hard enough finding rotation minutes for Evans, Hayward, Fes, Elson and then Memo when he returns. Only reason to go with 14 is if the Jazz had a young player they were trying to develop - for example, if Thompson had showed a lot of potential. Apparently he didn't. I believe the rights to Gaines and Jeffers are now owned by the Flash. So if they play in the D-League, they'd be a short drive away if the Jazz had an injury and needed to bring someone in.

Yeah; it's sad that they are so far over the LT because it would've been nice to keep one or more of the players that they cut.

If they were under the LT, they probably would have.
(Okur for $10 million to $11 million? One year early, despite the inability to play on both ends of the court in the same game? Really?)

I especially like Nichols and Thompson, even though they would take some development (on court and off).
