Open Carry?

This. You are worrying about trained guard/attack dogs. Most of us are talking about family pets that have been raised with the kids that bark when a stranger comes around..

Not really. I'm not scared of having a large family dog.

This started out as a dog as a replacement for a gun. I don't need a dog large enough to potentially replace a gun inside the house with young children. I see one as an piece of overall security but one that is not right for my family at this time. I do think a dog is a much better deterrent than a gun that nobody knows you have and very likely couldn't pull out in a delirious, just woken state anyway.

That is what it started out as but quickly became a good dog as a vluable part of home protection. Another warning system.

As for around kids it was protection. I had total faith that if a man hit me as a kid the dog would rip him a new *******. Hell if a man even raised his voice the dog got displeased.

Ohh, get one of these, Trout!
