Last year the Jazz were dead last in pace. 30th of 30 teams.
Quin as a coach came to the Jazz preaching pace, passing, and defense. But in actuality we weren't a great passing team the last few years relying heavily on isolation plays. Our defense was top 3, but pace had nothing to do with this team. DL and Q both had commentary that it was due to the roster makeup and that pace isn't measured around the league the way that we measure it. But at the end of the day, we shot late in the shot clock and often times we just relied on Hayward.
In just 5 preseason games I have seen a big difference in the amount of transition plays, how fast the ball moves in our offense, total passes, a reduction in isolation, and more. My guess is that our pace has gone from bottom in the league to at least 15th. Is there any doubt at this point that we had a major shift in our approach to the game facilitated by the Rubio?
Thoughts on pace and the strategic shift are welcome below, yo!
