Many of you know that the Sloan Sports Analytic Conference is going on right now in Boston. I am a numbers guy (not that I am advanced with my understanding) so I try to keep up with what is going on there. Here are a few interesting tweets that are coming out of there:

DraftExpress Tarlow's finding: Experience helps a NBA team make the playoffs, but not causally related to winning in the playoffs. #SSAC

DraftExpress Tarlow: NBA coaches experience not causally related to post-season success. Coaches do not improve with failure. #SSAC

DraftExpress Actually, Tarlow says player's experience has no relationship w/winning. Postseason experience helps a team get into playoffs, but that's it

DraftExpress If you want to read Tarlow's paper on Experience and Winning in the NBA or any of the #SSAC research papers, go here: bit.ly/wvQkKl

there's some dorky conclusions drawn here.

Player experience has nothing to do with winning? Whatever variables were identified and abstracted from the field of others in order to make that calculation have to suck.

The only positive conclusion that you've posted above is that a taste of the postseason means a lot. Agreed. Not making the playoffs sucks on so many levels.

I have not had had time to read it yet, I just saw the tweets and thought that I will get to it later.
