Playgrounds :)

so i recnetly went to a playground had some kids over.
i was terrified by the playground, it was the safest thing i ever seen, how will kids learn about danger.
remember playground from my days. those where hella dangerous.

i would prefer my kids to go to danegrous playgrounds, but i think i will be arrested for it.

still prefer asphalt over NASA engineered pussycat padding

So, Dutch is hanging out around playgrounds and is worried about getting arrested? Can't say I'm surprised.

After I had my son I became terrified of him riding those playground animal figures attached to the ground by a large spring. I used to love those when I was little, but all I could think of was him smashing his face into it and me having to shell out a couple grand for dental reconstructive surgery.

lol just let him have fun.

I think you missed the part where I said all I can think about is a couple grand worth of dental reconstructive surgery. Those ****ing things terrify me!

we have a playground at the end of our block with a couple of those, and my kids would bring their stuffed animals and use the rocking animal as a catapult and have contests to see whose toy would fly the furthest

then at some point the Park District replaced them with new figures that were much less "springy" and that was the end of that fun!

Does Salt Like City or Amsterdam have something like that?

I visited Ventspils this summer with my wife and 2 and half year old daughter. I was kind of pissed of :-) that Tallinn did not had those in the eighties.

Wow, that major slide contraption thing looks like FUN!!! Something like that in a swimming pool would be the bomb!

Oh those are fine, I never saw more than 3 or 4 kids in my kidhood wang their teeth on those things. One of them was pretty gnarly, as he pushed his upper teeth through his lip before they broke off.

Was I one of the only kids that ran a motor bike against the merry-go-round to get ungawdly speed out of the thing? We saw 2 broken bones from that one, but wow was it a hoot.

Some of my fondest childhood memories involve maiming.

Or at least the risk of maiming. We have taken that away too. The biggest risks today are having our children taken away from us by CPS when we let them walk 3 houses down to a friend without direct adult supervision the entire 300 feet.

The best were those Merry Go rounds:

Haven't seen one of those in ages. I definitely took some lumps from falling off those back in the day. Those were fun. Even those weak "zip line" track type obstacles that are like 6 feet off the ground seem to be always chained up now. I haven't even seen tetherball poles around any more. Somebody must have got a scratch on their face from the ball or something so it was outlawed.

It's not a wonder why these up and coming dingleberrys play video games all day.

because they are "safer"

Speaking of maiming, did anyone else maim insects and spiders when they were kids?

My two favorites were removing the glowing "light" from the lightening bugs and removing the legs from Daddy Long Legs spiders.
