.... given the match-up, of course....

So, match-ups permitting, does anybody have a problem with Hayward guarding the opposing "2" guard? How would you rank his ability to guard the "2" versus the "3"? Why.

Thanks for the discussion.

I think he would do better against a 3, but would be more than adequate against a 2. He's a pretty good defender, but can struggle against quickness at times.

Incorrect.

Hayward is an excellent defender. So good in fact, that he can guard NBA point guards. I've seen him defend the likes of Tony Parker and Chris Paul very well.

Hayward doesn't struggle with quickness or defense. Dude is a badass on the defensive end.

Hayward is a smart, strong defender with size. He is only blessed with average quickness. For short stints he can guard smaller quicker players but it wears him down. We are better served as a team to let Exum, Burks etc. take the lead on defense.

Hayward's versatility at both ends is a clear strength. He can adequately guard both positions, and is more physically capable of roughing up smaller 2's than he used to be.

Unless the team acquires a defensive wing like DeMarre Carroll, I'd want Hayward guarding whoever is the opposing team's better wing player.

I think it's a wash really
