We all make judgments. Fire Corbin. Sign Brandon Rush. Darft Trout. But when we look back, how many of us have been really strong with our calls? This thread is for that. Let's keep it Jazz and NBA related unless the masses feel otherwise. Now, let me start about my history as I remember it, from best to worst.
1) I said two+ years ago that we should fire Sloan and hire Thibodeau. In fact I started one or two threads about it.
2) I also said James Harden would win 6th man of the year which I imagine he will. If he doesn't (Manu, etc.), he'll be damn close. I think only Archie agreed with me.
3) Four years ago, I raved about Batum and insisted we draft him to eventually supplant AK. Instead we took Koufos. Pretty good call on my part, as was that by those of you who touted Ibaka.
4) I said we should pick Kanter this past draft and there's no reason to think at this point that that was a bad call.
5) I wanted Babbitt two years rather than Hayward. Bad call. Babbitt though has improved (43% from three this year) and could become a very solid role player in this league.
6) About 10 games into his rookie season, and seeing some flashes, I predicted Koufos would make an all-star game some day. Ouch. He did have a solid year this year though.
7) Three years ago when we drafted Maynor, I wanted BJ (now going by Byron) Mullens instead. Mullens hasn't amounted to much at all. In fact, I think this says it all.
8) I wanted Morris Almond five years ago. I think most of us liked the pick though at the time given our team's perimeter shooting deficiency.
I may have forgotten a couple but these are the ones that stand out.
So have at it. What have you wanted in the past and how would it have turned out?
