Predictions: Jazz and NBA related

We all make judgments. Fire Corbin. Sign Brandon Rush. Darft Trout. But when we look back, how many of us have been really strong with our calls? This thread is for that. Let's keep it Jazz and NBA related unless the masses feel otherwise. Now, let me start about my history as I remember it, from best to worst.

1) I said two+ years ago that we should fire Sloan and hire Thibodeau. In fact I started one or two threads about it.
2) I also said James Harden would win 6th man of the year which I imagine he will. If he doesn't (Manu, etc.), he'll be damn close. I think only Archie agreed with me.
3) Four years ago, I raved about Batum and insisted we draft him to eventually supplant AK. Instead we took Koufos. Pretty good call on my part, as was that by those of you who touted Ibaka.
4) I said we should pick Kanter this past draft and there's no reason to think at this point that that was a bad call.
5) I wanted Babbitt two years rather than Hayward. Bad call. Babbitt though has improved (43% from three this year) and could become a very solid role player in this league.
6) About 10 games into his rookie season, and seeing some flashes, I predicted Koufos would make an all-star game some day. Ouch. He did have a solid year this year though.
7) Three years ago when we drafted Maynor, I wanted BJ (now going by Byron) Mullens instead. Mullens hasn't amounted to much at all. In fact, I think this says it all.

8) I wanted Morris Almond five years ago. I think most of us liked the pick though at the time given our team's perimeter shooting deficiency.

I may have forgotten a couple but these are the ones that stand out.

So have at it. What have you wanted in the past and how would it have turned out?

I was wrong about God. I will never be able to live that one down. (PBUH)

I was 100% correct about Chucker J. Miles, and there is a 100 page thread that the mods felt a need to close that proves my genius.

Other than that, I'm pretty damn worthless.

Oh yeah, we could grade each other too. I'd give myself a B- based on the above. What say you?

Now sticky this and rep me my bitches.

If I recall correctly Wes, you and I were two of the only posters who wanted Chris Singleton with our 12th pick. I figured that he'd amount to being a better player than Kawhi Leonard.

However, Alec Burks was never supposed to fall to 12th. But I am admittedly wrong about predicting that Singleton > Kawhi. I never knew what to make of the Hayward pick, or the Kanter pick. Id say that the 2011 draft was the first one I ever followed very closely.

Correct on Singleton though like you said I didn't expect Burks to be there. I also LOVED Chandler Parsons this past year and wanted to try to get him somehow.

I said the Jazz would either make the playoffs or get a draft pick. That was 100% correct.

A+

This kind of feels dirty, like Im about to pat myself on my back too much.

Wow, koufus really, allstar? Haha

Lets start with my bad ones

1. I felt, and still feel Fesenko could be a key piece on a team. I still want him on our team. That guy is a defensive beast. You wouldnt know it by his stats. But he can get in the way better than anyone.

2. I thought when we first drafted Ronnie Brewer he could become a Wade type player

3. I thought Jimmer would be better than he is

4. I was mad as hell about the Gordon Hayward pick. I had no idea he would be this good

5. I thought Johny Flynn would be good

6. I predicted the Jazz would not make the playoffs this year

7. I predicted the Jazz would win game 2 of this series

Theres a couple more but now on with good. I have made some pretty good predictions

1. I was way out in front of the Deron Williams train. I was saying he would become an Allstar

2. One that is happening right now is, I said Kenneth Faried would become a pretty good player. Dude is beast. I wish we had him

3. I wanted Paul George. He is turning out pretty good. Im happy with Hayward though

4. I was way ouy in front of both the get rid if Boozer and Al Jefferson train a long time ago.

5. I was also right on how bad Okur sucks

6. I wanted Deandre Jordan the year we drafted Koufus. Jordan is a lot better than people thought he was going to be.

7. I said for sure take Durant number one over Oden. I didnt know what Oden would become, but I knew Kevin Durant would become the next great thing. That one was easy.

8. I said Rajon Rondo would be really good.

9. I said Bargnani would be a bust. I think Im right about that

10. I said Brandoy Roy would be really good.

11. I thought Danny Granger would become pretty good

Of course there are more. And a lot that arent worth bragging about like Blake Griffin.

The ones I am proud of most are

Farried
D.Jordan
Rondo
George

Because they werent so easy

Durant
Dwill
Roy

Because of how good they became.

enough about the past.
I predict that 3 out of the 4 following players will stick in the league as valuable role players:
Crowder, Machado, JJenkins, DMiller.

All will likely be available in the early- to mid-second round. We can still make a splash in this draft.

Good call. Jenkins could become a diamond in the rough in the draft. I know he's not totally under the radar, but kid is good.

I don't have a lot of past predictions. There are two things that I can distinctly remember.

I liked Hayward the year that we drafted him. I remember talking to my brother about him fitting in with the Jazz and how he would be an under the radar player that could probably be had in the late 1st round. So I was right and wrong on that one.

I also said that the Jazz would not make the playoffs. I was pushing hard for the core to get 20 to 30 minutes a game per prospect. I also thought that Jefferson and Harris would hurt this team and that the offense should run through Hayward.

I would give myself about a B- as well.

Ya forget the past watch this...

I predict Jeremy Lamb will be very good in the nba. Probably an Allstar

Meh. Potential is there .. I just don't see it. Maybe we'll see him do as you've suggested and bring my future grade to an A-.

Here is my next prediction: On draft night, whenever Beal is brought up the name Ray Allen will also be brought up.

mine:

-Jeremy Lamb will be a bust.
-Of Houston's 2 point guards, Lowry will become available in the coming months.
-Al Jefferson will be traded in the summer.
-Nets will get their lottery pick back (top 3 protected from the portland trade)
-Golden State will keep their pick

My memory only stretches about two years.

I wanted Paul George.
I wanted Jonas and Leonard.

I was happy with our picks though and wasn't really outraged at any of them.

I remember being pretty mad when we drafted Koufus, but I think that was mostly because Hibbert didn't fall to us.

-bovice will be a bust
-We will get the GS pick
-Al Jefferson will not be traded
-Jeremy Lamb will be bad ***
-Royce white will be good if not great. Or crazy
-Hayward will be an Allstar next year
-Favors will be an Allstar that sits on our bench
-Anthony Davis will be a Hall Of Famer
-Burks will be a lights out shooter Allstar sitting on the bench.
-Kanter will make a huge jump next year
-KOC won't attempt a trade in the next year
-Corbin will be given an extension

Hard to argue with any of these, tbh.

I wanted Udoh, Babbit, Patterson all ahead of Hayward.
Missed there
I did want Alec Burks at 12, but at 3 I wanted Brandon Knight for some stupid reason.
Half miss there.
I thought Koufus would be a good big man because of his outside shot
Missed there badly
Always hated Krylo Fesenko, but Boozer/Okur defense was so bad, that it made Fes look like a star.
Got that right.
