What's new

Rajon Rondo, Josh Smith, and the Jazz

I'll just say the assertion that Rondo is no better (or only slightly better) than Harris is bordering on absurdity. Truth.

I'm not going to argue that because I don't disagree. But, I made no assertion that Harris was equal to Rondo. My observation was that I believe he would not fare much better on this team than Harris has. Less to do with individual ability, and more to do with supporting cast and attitude.

Do you think Harris would do as well as Rondo is in Boston?

That's a fair question. In reality, probably not. I think Harris is the kind of player that needs a "system" like GS to really maximize his impact. The way Utah is set up, right now, for a PG to really be the difference maker he needs a skill set like DWill. Rondo doesn't have that. Perhaps that situation will change as our young bigs get experience. But I speculate, and I have never claimed to be any sort of basketball expert. I just figure I throw my two cents in, it being a forum and all...

I agree with what you said about Harris. But I just don't understand this obsession people have with thinking that Rondo's assists are high simply because he has shooters around him. Sure, of course that helps, but all you have to do is WATCH Rondo play and you know he's a great passer. There's no way Harris can make the kind of passes Rondo does on a regular basis.

I agree that we need shooters, and would need them even more if we had Rondo, but to say a couple of shooters would be the difference between Rondo playing like an All-Star and playing like the washed up Harris is just absurd.

Rondo is very underrated by this board...Charles Barkley would have a heart attack if he read some of the comments here.

Then I disagree with this, then. Rondo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Harris. Period.

I wasn't catching on before, but since you've been using TRUTH and PERIOD as stand-alone sentences (and mixed in a double THEN, and multiple ">" just for good measure) it has all come clear to me.

Rondo = championship.

Thank you for showing me the way.

You. are. welcome.

Seriously .. hyperbole, or not, I'm just sharing my sincere opinion. Hope that's okay.

No, it's completely okay. And I am more than willing to admit that you obviously know more about basketball than I do. I'm okay with that. But I do watch, and I have opinions of my own. I may very well be misguided, but I like to think I'm not totally clueless. I usually do end up learning a thing or two from these kinds of disagreements, anyway. So maybe there is hope for me, somewhere down the road.

I doubt it.

:rolleyes:

When I think of ways to make the Jazz better now and especially longterm, the first thing that comes to mind is going out and getting two sour/bad attitude players where one would make the Jazz an even worse shooting team, and the other doesn't help with the Jazz's logjam at one (and by extension, two) positions. All we have to give up is a potentially great asset for the future of this team and guys that like being here and aren't chumps as players themselves.

Apparently I'm not allowed to rep you. This was a very fine post however.
